In a country when DOG GROOMERS are often licensed

Where?

Mary's been a groomer for 15 years. I know there are some big cities that try to license groomers, but I don't think any state does. Certainly not Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, or New Hampshire.

Those are just 2 from a quick google.  Pretty much, if you want to groom pets where I was raised you need a license.  I think barbers/stylists are also required to be licensed to cut human hair.

Yes, I said there are a few cities that license groomers. But I stand by my refutation of your statement about "a country when DOG GROOMERS are often licensed".

AFAIK, all states require licensing of barbers/beauticians. This is wrong, and should be done away with in a free state.

I am a merchant mariner, and the unions and int'l organizations have wanted STCW (Standards for Training and Certification for Watchstanding).  It took me two years to get the sea time and training necessary to stare out a window for four hours.  To say that occupational licensing is a farce is an understatement, to be sure.

As far as IBEW's process, I won't be able to get all of that paperwork together before I ship out, but how does the non-union program work?   Is it more flexible in terms of training?  Can you work as an electrician while you're going through school?
