Comming from Sweden and the low crime rate without guns but no way to opose the corrupt governements there is... I signed up for the free state project. However I'm staying in Sweden at least until I can get my degree which I have put a lot of man hours into. Also the schools are payed thru taxes so I be damned if I ain't gonna use my money's worth of education.

I have been curious about building a railgun... Yeah crazy, but fun! Is there any laws around homemade high velocity projectile launcher in New Hamphire?

No, there is no law against that.  :)

There are no laws against building your own firearm, either (but you can't sell it).

We have another Swede here on the forum. Have you spoken with burnthebeautiful?

I dont see why you could build a railgun... I always thought they were fictional, though

Dave Ridley

are you talking about the kind of rail gun that could be used to fling a mud pie from nashua to boston? LOL

Nah, they're actually fairly simple.  It's just the power requirements that are difficult.

Oh, and make sure you remember your magnetic rules and get the polarity right, or you might have an unpleasant day! :o

My son (who is almost 16 now) built a rail gun for science project about 4 years ago.

Well, okay, it was more a linear accelerator, using rare earth magnets and ball bearings... but it was still cool.  ;D

aries

Wow, the most impressive thing I ever built for science class was a mobile.

Once I baked some half-decent cookies too.

Me to.

Whats your degree in?
I am planning to do the same.

For being such a small country there are really many people from Sweden planing to move to NH.

lordmetroid

Small and small... We have more land than Germany. Yeah I know, population vice small. It's just that there are liberal people in Sweden as well and we don't like living in a system with the highest tax burden of a free nation in the world.

I also have family in New York downstate area. The only thing I am worried about is the federal system is so fascistic at this moment I am actually afraid to emigrate to the "nation of freedom". Also one has seen the cheating that occured at the elections and the reporters without borders report of USA being at 53 place when it comes to freedom of the press together with Botswana.

In many ways Sweden is superior and in others New Hampshire is superior.

I am in the last phase of my Biochemistry degree. I would say I have about 1 year left for my Master's degree. In sweden our Gymnasium(old greece word for secondary school) teach what the first years in an american college does so one can start on a Master's degree four years worth of total education time at the moment you enroll at the University.

The only problem I fear is that there doesn't seem to be much about natural science in New Hampshire, only technology based industries. While I find that interesting and am more or less an amateur technology person as well. I'm not all that proefficient in that field. Though Computer Science is no problem at all.

How much does a house cost to build in New Hampshire and how much does a descent job give you in salary? Also I noticed the property taxes varies like crazy. What are the assesements that decided how much property tax there will be?

What about immigration?  You already looking into the process of getting a visa?  It might be a lot easier for you with the degree you have but from what I hear, it is still a huge pain in the ass.

OH yeah, on the FSP webpage, it says there are 21 people from Sweden signed up.

lordmetroid

No I haven't aken my time to investigate the possibility of a VISA. From what I know there is requirements of a work and living quarters to use before I can immigrate.
