Everyone who's been in the service has taken part in similar horseplay. Sometimes there's meaning behind it. I once saw a captain trapped in his sleeping bag and tied to the main gun of an M1 Abrams with commo wire, then the tank was put into "self test mode". (Those of you familiar with the M1 will understand that he didn't have a pleasant ride.) While everyone laughed it off as a practical joke, he got the message.
