Most all lawyers are sharks who only care about collecting fees and once their client's resources are exhausted they say ?Sorry I can't help you? If you are a lawyer- PROVE ME WRONG

Is there one principled lawyer in the Peoples Republic of Connecticut who will take it upon themself to pro-bono, file a  WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS on behalf of Lauren Canario???

You could try the ACLU in CT.

Re: Lauren Conario

Lauren Canario has been imprisoned 59 days without a trial date being set. Lauren is an eminent domain protester; she is charged with criminal trespass, interfering with police, and refusing to be fingerprinted. After an October 23, 2006 hearing she was ordered to be held indefinitely pending a future trial by Judge Kevin P. McMahon who set her bail at $20,000.00.

Some background information is below:

Lauren Canario, a member of the Free State Project, moved to New London, CT after the infamous Kelo vs. New London Supreme Court decision.  This decision, which ruled that states could decide to seize private property and hand it over to private corporations, so enraged Lauren that she packed up and moved from Las Vegas to New London to help the residents there keep their homes.  Now that the residents of Fort Trumble have sold their homes under extreme duress, she has vowed not to leave until the last home is razed.

About a year ago, Lauren was arrested while trying to attend a public City Council meeting.  Court officials claimed that the room was too full and that the meeting was being rescheduled.  She did not believe this and wanted to wait to see meeting attendees leaving before she'd leave the building.  The police arrested her for refusing to leave the steps of the building.  Once arrested, she refused completely to cooperate with her captors.  She wouldn't walk, she wouldn't talk to them.  She was held for 15 days before they finally gave up and let her go.  During that time, she was shackled and under bright lights 24 hours/day.  She has scars on her ankles from the shackles.

Today, Lauren is imprisoned again.  She was arrested on September 22nd while reading a book on the porch of one of the condemned properties while it was being boarded up.  It was said by a court official during her arraignment that there was no need to even arrest her, as she was not getting in the way of the house being boarded up. Judge Kevin McMahon ordered a competency hearing because she wouldn't speak and set the date for October 23rd, after giving a lengthy speech about having the right to remain silent.  He set her bail at $20,000.  During that month, she had no contact with family or friends, was able to send no letters nor receive phone calls or visitors.  At her hearing, she was judged competent, but ordered held until trial, which will be set at a unknown time up to a year in the future.

This tiny woman has shown more bravery than anyone I've ever met.  She fights for all of our property rights.  The Kelo case has had widespread effect around the nation.  Lauren refuses to cooperate with the evil people who perpetrate an unjust, out of control government.  She goes by the moniker "tackletheworld" online, and I've come to see how very suitable that name is.  She and her husband have a home in the free state of New Hampshire now, and she's an excellent example of the "Live Free or Die" spirit of the state.

This is a gross miscarriage of justice. The actions of judge Kevin P. McMahon are clearly politically motivated and amount to judicial misconduct. I can't think of any case that more warrants the help of the ACLU than this one. Is there one principled lawyer in the whole state of Connecticut that will take on these politically motivated vermin and FREE LAUREN.
