You are not alone in your fight!

We are living in a time when most people want peace, less government, and the hope of being free.
After all, these rights have been handed down from generation to generation.
They were fought for, and lived for.
Yet, we have seen so many of our rights taken away by a government that views freedom of choice, protest, and the desire to be free from intervention as threats to the country.
The United States of America was founded because people wanted to be free from wrongful taxation, government intervention, and the threat of being arrested if you said no.
These freedom fighters were the first generation of this country.
They protested, refused to pay taxes, and said no to the use of eminent domain by England.
We see their pictures on dollar bills, and read about them in history books.
They questioned authority and wanted better.
They were viewed as threats to the system.
They fought a government and won.
They were our founding fathers.
Today, we face many of same things as they did.
Somewhere along the way from then to now, the government we live under, went from freedom fighters to freedom takers.
It is no longer "We the people...", but we the powerful government.
This is what people like George Washington fought to stop.
It is what Thomas Jefferson wrote about.
It is what Ben Franklin pointed his finger at.
These freedom lovers would smile at Kat Kanning for entering a government building with the intent on telling the truth.
They would shake the hand of Dave Ridley for doing the same thing.
They would sit next to Lauren Canario and join her in defending the property of a friend from illegal seizure.
They would take arms and join Ed and Elaine Brown in their fight against the IRS and taxes.
They would have been a part of the Boston Tea Party that dumped the 9/11 Commission Report in the harbor because they would not stand for lies and cover-ups.
It would not have been the first trip to the harbor for the purpose of dumping corruption.
If Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence today, he would be viewed as a threat to the government and put under surveillance.
The heroes of then join the heroes of today in fighting a government that is not on the side of the people.
Times may change, but people do not.
It is the government that has changed, and we the people, are doing something about it.
Thank you.

The problem is that people want and believe contradictory things at the same time. Basically, I think it comes down to:

1. Humans fear change, and
2. Americans are unwilling to give up their government provided goodies. More relevant, they don't think they can have as much and more WITHOUT the state.

These must be changed and everything else will largely follow, IMHO. What are your thoughts?

That was really kind George!   Thanks so much!   keep up the LTEs!

I'll bet Thomas Paine would help you with composition, too.
Thanks GVH.

George is not an equal opportunity liberty lover though -- he only rails against Republican travesties. He has not a thing to say about Ray Buckley and all the other scandals the Democrats have going for them now that they've been in office 3 whole months!

I agree.
People fear change because it takes them out of their comfort zone.
They think they have it good or OK, but don't realize that they can have it better without government red-tape, waste, and worse.
The war in Iraq has now cost over $359 billion dollars.
With that money, you could buy 17 million full four-year college scholarships.
If you had a state that was really on the side of the people, then no one would go hungry.
Billions more are wasted by the government.
There are millions of dollars that the government can't account for.
We would have a better country if much of the government was not around.

TRILLIONS have been lost by the government, not millions.  I can post the video of Rumsfeld admitting it to Congress.  Computer glitches in the DoD have supposedly resulted in the money having gone missing  ::)

I agree with 1 and 2 above as well.  Unfortunately, people think government is responsible for their cushy lives.  They are willing to give up certain things like their freedom in return for their comfortable lifestyles and sense of security.  They are also willing to stand by as others are sacrificed to the system -- guys like Ed Brown, the people at Waco, and 10s of millions of others.

I don't know what the answer to this is or how we can fight these beliefs.  I think the only way for things to change would be for it to reach some point where the American public can't take it any longer.  If Ed Brown and tons of supporters from all over the place were killed, for example, that might push things over the edge.  Then again, it might not.

Remember you are fighting an entire system that has been around for ages.  Systems like governments, religion, entertainment, and even language have been used for thousands of years to control people.  You will have to fight the national news (which is just another arm of the system -- you might as well consider it an arm of the government itself).  It is no easy task.

I lean more towards believing that individuals standing up -- like what Ed Brown is doing -- that will make the difference.

We ARE not alone in this fight.  Look at what we've got going here.  As a matter of fact, the main reason I joined the FSP and will be making the move, is to live around people like myself.  I can't find enough of those people here in Illinois.  You cannot imagine the demoralizing effect that this state has had on its citizens.  So I look forward to being around you guys and working together.  Let's just hope you-know-who doesn't drop a big nuke on us and blame it on Iran  :P
