I do not put you on.

The SFPOA came out against Proposition H, saying specifically that people should be able to keep and bear arms for self-defense.

That's great.  I had no idea, and I even subscribed to the Chron at that time.  Sorry to impugn your integrity, Error, though I'm sure you can understand why I thought it was joke--I worked in S.F. for 25 years, and I've just seen so much liberal insanity in S.F., I thought it was all-encompassing.  (That having been said, though, "H" passed, and the SFPOA and the city's non-P/C citizens lost.)

Hum, interesting, perhaps I shouldn't have been quite so worried when I was packing while chatting with a SF cop following a minor fender-bender some years ago.

The Superior Court struck down Proposition H last June, though I understand an appeal is out there somewhere.

As I said at the time:

Proposition H illustrates why democracy is dangerous: In a democracy, a majority can simply vote to infringe the rights of a minority group, which is what the majority of voters did in San Francisco last November. Who would have thought San Francisco was so full of hate?

"There is definitely a balance," said Officer Roland Holmgren, department spokesman. "This thing had potential -- who knows where the suspects were going to take the situation? But by no stretch of the imagination are we agreeing with or justifying what the owner did."

But if a policeman had shot an armed robber, would the police spokesman agree with or justify that?
