Why don't you just renew it in California and put the problem off for another year? :)

i dont want to stay in cali for another yr if thats what you mean. and i literally wont be able to get a place for abit.

I believe you have 60 days after moving to register your car.
Within ten days after registering you are required to have an inspection ($25).

I am aware of one Wal-mart parking lot where RVs pull in for the night. I don't know if this is an official deal between the management and the RV owners or not.  But I haven't seen the cops called. (of course I wasn't there all night)

I would offer my driveway, but with 4 cars, and only 4 spaces, and 1 parking ticket from the city(which I'm fighting in court).

I think Wal-mart has a store policy that they allow RVers to "camp" in their lots.

I think he means that you can still sleep in your car in NH even if you have it registered in CA and have a CA drivers license. Once you find a place to live in NH you can then register your car and get a NH license if you are so inclined.

I would think that campgrounds could be a great place to sleep in your car...

Yeah, and I pretty sure it is just for 1 day.  Now, a real truck can be parked near an exit ramp during the night, in most states.

The State cannot discriminate against you for being "homeless" or "transient."  If I recall correctly from voter registration forms, you can give your usual place of abode, including a description of the location where you sleep at night if there is no address there (i.e., the southwest park bench in Pioneer Square), and I don't see why you -- as a bona fide resident of NH -- are not entitled to similar treatment.  Do you intend on having a mailing address (like a P.O. box)?

If DMV gives you any crap, ask them how a homeless person is supposed to get a driver's license.

Nothing on the application for a NH driver's license or the DMV's website indicates that you need to provide proof of a physical address; by signing your driver's license application, you are affirming that the statements contained in it are true (and you can be prosecuted if they are false).

The Safety Code (part of the Administrative Rules of the Department of Safety -- the DMV is an agency within the Dept.) contains the following definition:

Quote
Saf-C 1001.12  "Permanent address" means specification of the location where a person makes his/her residence. The term does not include addresses consisting solely of a post office box number.

What documents are necessary to obtain a NH driver license/Non-Driver Identification Card?
Each applicant shall provide:

An original or certified copy of his/her birth certificate.
Please Note: If your name is different than what is listed on your birth certificate, you must also provide the legal document of that name change (i.e., marriage certificate).
Current driver license or driver license which has expired no more than 12 months prior to the date of application.

Proof of residency - One of the following:

NH Valid Registration

ah thats interesting so say if i decided to park my truck at the lake near laconia i can say south end of lake or watevr ? being mor specific of course. ? btw y truck will literally be due like 7 days after i get there at max probly less than 7. so ya but they told me that i need a ady but i guess i can argue with them when i get there altho the insurance company wont insure me tho that i do need a address. i wont drive without insurance if that goes im parking the car prmanently. because if i get in a wreck il owe alot of money with nothing i have gap but without insurance its useless. but can you guys figure out a slution haha jk, ive talked to alot of insurance co they all same way. so i think i would need an address. but i guess thats up to someone if they are willing to let me use a parking spot. anyways im goign to attempt to find more info but the insurance will be the issue.

Unless you think the cops are going to unfairly single you out, you needn't worry about the expiration of you California Plates.

Let your California plates expire, take some time to get used to freedom, tell the cops that you haven't gotten around to it yet, if they pull you over.

If that's what you're worried about.
