Welcome to the Shire

Russell wants to brainstorm about new front-end pages for either this site, or a whole new website.  What he had in mind was explaining about new hampshire and positive things going on here.  The focus would be more toward helping people rather than complaining about the government, or getting into details of politics.

Any ideas what would be good to see there?

The Shire is different than the place folks leave behind. A place for hopes and dreams to be possible... A place of positives, not hatred and stress. It should be our goal to leave that baggage behind.

As to the website, perhaps a new entry page would be nice. I keep thinking of images from the galleries made into a collage... John with his flag, someone burning their SS card etc.

The navigation of the site could be made a little easier to find important stuff. There is a lot of good content, but it is kind of buried.

When a new person registers to post on the forum they should have a good sense of the shared goals. That way they won't find themselves at a party they don't feel like they fit into, and we won't constantly have to educate (debate) newcomers.

I can't figure out what about the home page was negative or wrong.

I guess you want a mission statement or something to "head em off at the pass"

How about links to nongovernmental, community-based volunteer websites?

Conspicuously absent would be sites like http://www.volunteernh.org (which has FEMA links and a "message from the governor" every other page)

I always thought when everyone mentioned the Shire that it was short for Cheshire county until somebody, (sorry I forget who), told me last week that it means New Hamsphire.
