Converting DVD to something editable and then upload to You Tube

I have a DVD (file extension .vob) that I need to convert so something that Windows Movie Make can edit (.wmv, .avi, .mov, .mpg). Then I need to be able to save it in a format that You Tube will allow (.wmv, .avi, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpeg).

The Movie Maker part is easy if I can get the.vob file into a format that it will recognize. Can someone tell me if they know of any share ware that will do this? I've tried a handfull of free trial and either they do a really bad conversion (so I end up with a bad Godzilla movie where the sound doesn't match the video) or the limitations in the free trial prevent me from capturing the segment I need.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide....

It should be just a standard MPEG-4 stream, but if it's on DVD, it may be encrypted. There are tools to help you decrypt it and work with it, but a federal judge has said that I can't tell you what or where they are.
