The following is an article from CNN.
(cnn.com)

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP)  -- A federal judge Thursday ordered the government to pay more than $101 million in the case of four men who spent decades in prison for a 1965 murder they didn't commit after the FBI withheld evidence of their innocence.

The FBI encouraged perjury, helped frame the four men and withheld for more than three decades information that could have cleared them, U.S. District Judge Nancy Gertner said in issuing her ruling Thursday.

She called the government's argument that the FBI had no duty to get involved in the state case "absurd."

Peter Limone, Joseph Salvati and the families of the two other men who died in prison had sued the federal government for malicious prosecution.

Yeah,  and I'll bet the IRS is gonna come looking for their fat slice of that 101 mil.

But remember, they've been authorized to do that by a simple majority of the voting public!

Compensation payouts are supposed to be exempt from taxes (punitive damages however are not).

I'll spit and laugh in the face of
everyone of them!

And if YOU are one of THEM who
happens to be reading this, then
I mean YOU.

This makes me sick.

This is unbelievable!  Unfortunately, the FBI perps responsible for this are likely either dead, or nearly dead.  If they are still alive, though, they should be brought to justice for this atrocity.

I think we're seeing a parallel of the FBI thinking they're above the law when it comes to organized crime, and the Bush regime thinking they're above the law when it comes to terrorism.

Actually, that's a good point. While "the government" was the body responsible for this crime, it is made up of individual people. Those individual people should be punished for lying, especially when their lies sent innocent people to prison (and/or death?).

Big "rewards" are the least the gov't can do to start to make atonement... but whose money was that, anyway? I could afford to hand out buckets of cash, too, if I stole 30% of most working folks' paychecks.
