Ok seriously, everyone I've talked to has said there is normally only about 2 weeks of "wicked hot" weather in NH.  I work outdoors, and for the last month it has definitely been wicked hot.  Could you people please stop breathing using gasoline and destroying the polar caps?

Seriously...

Pat K

Dont worry it will get plenty cool soon enough.

Christ! It hasn't even topped 100? yet. This weather is fantastic!

Bah, I hate this weather. I came here to get away from the heat! What do I have to do, move up Mount Washington?

It was only 64 up there yesterday, a far cry from the all-time record high of 72.  8)

Of course, that record high was first reached in 1975, when the prognosticators were warning that we were doomed to a new ice age in the next 30 years. Some other interesting temps from the summer of '75:
QuoteTo give you an idea of how hot it got in 1975, here are some highs that occurred. New Bedford and Chester, MA reached 107F, Portland, ME reached 103F, Bangor, ME topped out at 102F, and Bar Harbor, ME reached 100F.

(From the MWO observer's notes today.)

I think in the summer it should be 80 or 90 every day....I dont think NH will satisfy that...Western Washington certainly doesnt ;)

Rochelle

Meh. It's not that bad. It wouldn't feel as bad as it does if there were more air conditioning around here.

It hit 100 yesterday in Nashua, my first day in NH. Someone said I brought GA weather with me.

Rochelle

Well, now we know who to tar and feather ;)

Speaking of Georgia, I was looking at this apple picking guide from last Autumn and it mentioned that early August is peach picking season---now that would make the warm weather more wonderful: fresh peaches!

Nobody seems to have heard of "central air" around here.

Ya'll live on that coastal plain got to move up in elevation. It is typically 10 degrees cooler at our elevation of a 1000 ft.

Rochelle

Yea. Kind of makes me want to be at work, since it's airconditioned there. Makes doing housework a bit of a chore when it's 84 in the house :P

Weather service says it only got to 95 in Nashua. That's warm enough if you're working outside.

But the big difference between Hotlanta and NH, is that NH cools off at night. Air temps of 95-100 are not so much of a problem when it drops to 65-70 at night. It's just after 1 a.m. here, and my central air and booster window unit are both running. In NH, we'd have the windows open and be downright cool.

July and August tend to be the hottest like January and February tend to be the coldest. Personally I like September and October best. The weather is still warm but uncomfortable days are much less likely.

One day last week t-mometer read 100*   and it was placed in the shade.   That is absolutely brutal when you are working outdoors 10 or more hours.   I need to learn about computers so I can have a nice air-conditioned desk job...
