I also think that some people will be 'afraid' to post certain things. -- just a feeling

I completely agree.  That's part of why I'm thinking it might not even be worth it to offer "smite" functionality.

Sounds like the "Compare Friends" thingy over on Facebook.

I really like this idea. I, too, would prefer to only deal with Porcs if possible. As far as movers are concerned, it would be nice if they had an instant way of making friends other than here.

This reminded me of something I suggested over in another thread, to which I never received a response. I would really like to see one place where fellow freestaters could meet each other that didn't involve using things like MySpace.

You mean like Taproom Tuesday?

I only found out about that after digging around online in various places, after moving.

And how exactly would you "fix" the "problem"?

I thought that's what we were talking about here; a social networking site for Porcs. Something like that would be especially useful if it were tied closer to the "official" freestateproject.org site; the comment to which I linked was tangentially related to this, talking about notifying members of other movers.

Wouldn't other movers have to tell everybody else that they're moving? It's possible that people would move here (and have moved here) without telling anybody, and we don't even know about them.

You mean with regards to my original comment? I was basing the idea on the status update: You update your address in the FSP site to a New Hampshire address, and it'd let everyone else know you moved (subject to some sort of opt-in or opt-out configuration of course).

Or ... they move   and tell us and we never hear from them again.

That seems like something the FSP should be doing, if it's going to be an official thing.

Of course, the whole reason there are forums, Yeehaw groups, Myspace, etc., is because the FSP is NOT doing it.

Most stuff doesn't get done 'by the FSP' because they don't have enough volunteers (no I am not calling anyone out... just pointing out the fact.

I like it better when things are done NOT by the FSP.  If the FSP starts it.. the FSP will control it.

Lasse

I might be wrong but I recall FSP officials stating several times that the FSP will only be a vehicle for activists, it won't do, condone or support things that the activists actually do.
