Roman fasces all over 'em, eh?
Hey, our police have twin fasces on their insignia. Insignia which they wear on leather jackets along with combat boots.

Man, I'm glad they don't have guns.

I suspect the real Amero would be made out of tin or aluminum.

error

The real Amero would be made out of worthless zinc.

Even zinc is going up now thanks to the devaluation of the dollar.  It costs more than 1.7 cents to make a zinc/copper coated penny.  Ten cents for the copper/nickel in a nickel.  Of course they recently made it a felony to buy them in bulk and melt them down.

error

You mean zinc is staying the same while the dollar falls. :)

Actually, I expect the Amero would be paper.

Maybe it'll be plastic, like that funny stuff they call money down in Australia.

Or entirely electronic, and accessed by a single piece of plastic you keep. I mean, if they're going to invent a fresh new currency, why not close off the untraceable-cash loophole at the same time?

Puke

I think the Amero will be a witch!... WITCH!... BURN IT!!

It's appropriate that Liberty is depicted looking over her shoulder on two of those designs.

The Liberty Dollar seems bogus to me.  I visited their site a while back, and I seem to recall that they devalued the Liberty Dollar relative to its bullion weight, which defeats the whole point of a bullion-backed currency.

Has anybody looked into these electronic gold sites?  Are they trustworthy?

I know it was like this in the USA before Comrade FDR stopped it, but it seems problematic to peg a currency to TWO metals simultaneously.  There's nothing to ensure a value ratio between say, silver and gold.

This will happen so long as they peg their value to FRNs but use real precious metals to make them. Otherwise $500 gold Liberties nowadays would actually be "worth" about $600–650, the $10 silver Liberties about $11–12, and so on.

egold and other groups were raided by the feds earlier this year and accused of permitting illegal transactions. Even if an online site is run by good people, I would be very cautious.

Bi-metal currency doesn't work. Ron Paul has mentioned a better method, which would likely be Misesian: http://www.lewrockwell.com/north/north83.html
