hasn't anyone invented a automatic apple tree picker..

some cool gizmo that will wrap around the tree, shake it like mad and let the apples fall into large canopys which funnel into baskets.

yes?

Why invest in machinery when you can exploit people who have no way to complain about how little you pay them or how long their hours are?

I'm trying to get a part time job picking fruit for WSU...

I'm super excited.....it seems like far better work than other sorts of manual labor. Are they paying minimum wage or are they paying by the basket (or whatever) of apples?

My whole thing about illegal immigration, is that the spigot of welfare dollars needs to be turned off and the drug war needs to be ended, then somethings stabilize we can try to open the borders up a lot more.

But, I find migrant workers to be a generally good thing, but the trick about it is them going there for the harvest and then leaving when the work dries up, vs being in the US the rest of the year.

Wasn't it Mises that said "Open borders are incompatible with the modern day welfare state"...or was it Rothbard?

Does it matter who said it? It's the truth of the matter that is important. Of course, the truth is that the modern day welfare state is incompatible with human freedom.

Order of operations is important.  We can't open up the borders while the nanny state remains.

As my granny said" how do ya like them apples"?
heehee

Now lets get to the core of the problem.
