I've heard references to the "NHCLU" numerous times. What is it, and where is their website? Neither googling for "NHCLU" or "New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union" brings up anything that looks like their own website, just references elsewhere. I emailed the ACLU to ask if they were a branch thereof, and didn't receive a reply yet.

Claire Ebel is the main person for NH CLU. If you go to the State House during the session (eg, during one of the NHLA State House training trips), you are virtually guaranteed to run into her.
I would estimate she testifies on the same side as us ~70% of the time.
For example, they were against Real-ID (as we were) but opposed to the "Gannon law"

That's Claire... Claire Ebel.

Claire is fantastic testifying in Concord (or fantastic 70% of the time ;) ), but I don't believe she has a computer and has jokingly referred to herself as a Luddite.

You don't believe she has jokingly referred to herself as a Luddite?   >:D

(We need a "grammar nazi" emoticon in the worst possible way.)

Just for you:

Thanks.

They—she?—are in serious need of a usable website.

I think I have met Claire.  Very direct woman, clearly unafraid of the gov't and definitely seems to be a civil libertarian.  My first (and only so far) impression.

Whose side is she on anyway?

I wouldn't have supported that bill, either, if I'm reading it right. "Reasonable expectation of privacy" is a very bad standard by which to permit eavesdropping, in my opinion; the only time I ever seem to hear that expression is when the government is trying to push the envelope with some new surveillance scheme. I'd like to see a "public servant exception" to our current wiretapping law, but that bill went too far.

Make sure you're reading the right one; there were two.
Both were flawed; one by virtue of being overcomplicated, the other by covering only one's own home (and not, for example, being stopped by a cop on the highway)

I had found HB872 by searching for "Gannon bill" here, via this thread.

So you already know my less-than-thrilled opinion of HB872 :)
