I never noticed marxist undertones in Bad Religion.  Anyway, most punk rock bands that do political music have at least a few pro-freedom songs that are most completely just pro-freedom without any leftist crap.  NOFX, Flogging Molly, Circle Jerks, Boucing Souls, and all of the groups you mentioned, for example.

Sloppy phrasing on my part.  Didn't mean to imply Bad Religion was marxist -- just listing off a few political punk bands I like and commenting on how most of them tilt left.

I am yet another music lover.  Here are some groups -

Corporate Avenger - one of the guys is a brother of someone from Kottonmouth Kings.  So basically this is politically-oriented yelling over hip hop beats.  Fault the police (I don't), Taxes are stealing, FBI files, Drug dealing God etc... These guys preach a tribal approach to life (if you've read Daniel Quinn's books or understand what Bad Religion is all about it'll make sense).

Dead Prez - self-proclaimed Socialists.  Very good hip hop.  They're not too fond of white people, and consider themselves Africans as opposed to african-americans.  "I'm not American, punk Democrat or Repulican.  Remember that".  What they advocate really isn't Socialism, it's survivalism: "imagine having no running water to drink.  chemicals contaminate the pipes leading to you sink.  just think. if the grocery stores closed their doors and they saturate the streets with tanks and start martial law.  would you be ready for civil war?  could you take the life of somebody you know or had feelings for?"   and my all-time favorite line "I'll go against a tank with a shank from my dreams and that's my fuckin word".

Rise Against - very good punk rock.  Prayer of the Refugee is a gem.  The booklet inside the cd urges people to read Ayn Rand and Daniel Quinn.  Me likes.

Rage Against the Machine
System of a Down  Nothing more needs to be said here.  Although I was very upset to learn that a former 412 resident hadn't heard of RATM.  Kids these days...

Pennywise - Punk rock.  Weren't all that political until releasing Land of the Free?  But the whole album is political.  A little left-leaning but nowhere near as bad as Anti-Flag.  I'm not a big Anti-Flag fan because they are true Socialists.

Company Flow - White Rapper El-P is political though doesn't always rap about politics.  1 good song on the Soundbombing II compilation disc (from Rawkus Records):  Patriotism   "Penitentiary residents, lock 'em up first then ask questions. Omniscient presence.  My charm is the weapon.  With cameras, mikes and satellites that leave privacy breathless.  You don't even know the chemicals you've ingested.  Urine-tested.  Be innocent man, until he confesses."

Strike Anywhere - more punk rock.  My fav song is Sunset on 32nd:  "when they blow down the door and put their guns in the face of your wife and child, and as they pinned you to the floor did you say 'officer, I'm not resisting you?'

NoFX - punk.  Singer Fat Mike is a progressive and started the Punk Voter nonsense.  I guess he forgot that punk rock is about rebelling against the establishment, yet he wants us to embrace it (well, parts of it.  At least he's not a big fan of the cops).  They released an album called The Decline which is one 20 minute song.  Pretty good.  "Where are all the stupid people from?  And how'd they get to be so dumb?"


And I'm working on some stuff.  Probably be awhile before I get anything recorded (need some equipment).  I'm trying to mix many different genres together, so we'll see how it works - Blues, punk, hip hop, electronica and classical.  Heh.

That was the first couple albums.  The latest was metal and mostly anti-religion (mostly anti-islam).  Actually, there was some anti-christian on the first couple albums, also.

Also, Kotonmouth Kings and ICP just dropped a video for their new song, "Think For Yourself" it is long but still a pro-freedom positive message which KMK often does.
