This looks pretty cool; I pass it along for those who might be interested in this type of event:

We invite you to be part of the upcoming 2007 Northeast Animal-Power Field Days, being held at the Fair Grounds, in Tunbridge, Vermont, September 29th and 30th, 2007. Conservation, stewardship, small farms, healthy forests, and the roles they play in vital rural communities will be emphasized during this two-day trade fair and conference that will present resources for farmers, loggers, and forest landowners pursuing the use of draft animals as part of their land-based livelihoods.

Among the obstacles to establishing successful animal-powered enterprises that incorporate sound stewardship principles, is the time required to seek-out mentors, products, and resources. These field-days have been organized by Earthwise Farm and Forest of Bethel, VT., as a gathering of resource people, equipment dealers, suppliers, and educators who provide essential assistance to people interested in conservation, sustainable land-use, and farming and logging with draft animals.

The weekend activities will include:

    * Presentations by resource people, and well-known authorities on working animals
    * Panel discussions
    * Vendor exhibits in the Pavilion Building
    * Working animal presentation and programs in the Pulling Arena
    * Field demonstrations of animal-powered farming and logging equipment
    * Equipment Auction
    * Children's activities
    * Music
    * Local Food Vendors
    * Farmers Market

OMG... I read that title and for a few horrible seconds, thought "Animal-Power Field" was some bizarre new form of new age crap and I need to lose all respect for you. Sorry.  :blush:

The hosts, Lisa McCrory and Carl Russell, were interviewed recently by Dr Carolyn Baker http://carolynbaker.net/site/content/view/126/

"People come to us to learn about designing and building their own homes, understanding off-grid power systems, composting toilets and grey-water systems, on-farm slaughtering, bio-dynamic practices, spiritual gardening, dowsing, forest management, grazing systems, food preparation, timber harvesting, and working draft animals. We recognize that perhaps the most valuable product of our farm is our experience. We do not promote ourselves as possessing the "Right Way". We have skills, and we are glad to share them with people who value the learning."
