Finally! My wife and I are going to NH in two weeks. We'll be in the White Mountains for her birthday and we plan on exploring the state parks around there, Mt. Washington, check out The Cog and do some hiking elsewhere.

I would like to get some ideas on where to go for morning/sunset shots. I've seen great photos of NH in the fall and I'd love to visit them.

Thanks.

The best views in the state in my humble native opinion.

FALL FOLIAGE SCENIC DRIVE – KANCAMAGUS HIGHWAY NEW HAMPSHIRE

New Hampshire has many scenic drives in the White Mountain National Forest but at the top of the list has to be the 34-mile Kancamagus Scenic Highway that runs along route 112 from Conway to White Mountains Visitor Center in Lincoln. This drive is considered by many to be the top fall foliage New England scenic drive. It has beautiful forests ablaze with autumn colors and plenty of photo opportunities with walks along gorges and streams, and with views of the highest mountains in the Presidential Range.

Thanks. We'll definitely work on that.

Also, I was wondering if people here had gone a bit north of the White Mountains. I'd love to use the telephoto and see moose!

All of us who have been to PorcFests prior to the '07 version have been to the northern part of the White Mountains. Here are a few of my pics from 2006:

...and now I'm feeling all homesick.  :'(

I would recommend the outdoors for your photos .... there should be no bad place to photograph in the coming weeks.

Of course! I think Sunday night we're going to start heading back home so we'll go south through Concord/Manchester and then Keene. I would not meeting some troublemakers freedom fighters! :P

Heh, home for now is Ithaca (yes, that commie town in the evil Empire State). I should have been clearer, sorry. But we have plans to move to NH in 2-3 years after we are done here.

If you want unique photos you should avoid the spots that are popular.
A good pic can be had anywhere; it all depends on timing.

That looks great. Maybe I could crash with someone and save on hotel and then I could afford the plane ticket instead of driving. *HINT HINT*

Very nice pictures KB! :)

I tried to post some pictures of Mount Washington but of course I can't figure out how to do it. :BangHead: ::)

Your pictures are so big but when I try to attach mine it says they are too big.  Do you copy and paste yours somehow?
