In telling people what they can and cannot do with their own property Government has once again destroyed a life.

QuoteThe council had just voted down the second reading of a request from Ronald "Bo" Ward, of 1517 Madison St., to have his home rezoned as commercial.

Ward, owner of Bo's Barber Shop across from Gate 1 on Fort Campbell Boulevard, had said the rezoning would increase his property value, allowing him to secure a loan to offset debt he incurred when he expanded his shop.

Said Ward last month, "If this (zone change) doesn't go through, I lose my home, I lose my shop, I lose everything I got."

After Thursday's 5-7 vote was cast, Ward stood and walked steadily toward the council.

"Johnny (Piper), I know I can't speak," Ward said over the mayor, who was telling Ward the public comment period had ended.

"Y'all have put me under," Ward said, pulling out a small silver handgun. "I'm out of here."

A gunshot punctuated his sentence, and Ward fell at the feet of those sitting in the first row.

Oh and I love how they try to get the anti gun slant in there while they are at it...

QuoteAt least one police officer is always on duty during council meetings. However, visitors are not required to go through a metal detector or any other screening.

Signs are posted in the chambers prohibiting firearms, said Missy Graham, communications director for the city, and the city will review security procedures for the chambers.

This guy's barber shop address was:
Bo's Barber Shop
2250 Fort Campbell Blvd.
Clarkville, Tenn

I don't have the zip code but I'm sure it can be found easy online somewhere.

I was thinking it may be helpful for this guys wife to send her contributions or set up some kind of widows fund.  As it was the guy was on the verge of losing everything already.  I'm sure his death isn't going to help his wife any.  Although maybe she would be open to selling everything and moving to NH to start over.

If he was going to do that he might as well have capped the mayor while he was at it.

Poor guy, at least he is free now.

Thats crazy. It is never as bad as it looks. This poor guy could have made a new start anywhere. He was probably attached to the place he lived and set in his ways but really, there are so many other (better) ways to go. It probably never dawned on him that he could use the gun on those who ruined his life.

Society has failed this guy. His friends, family, neighbors, and customers should have made an effort to help him. Imagine Floyd the barber from the Andy Griffith show being driven to that point. Life is hard and it looks like nobody taught him that. Rule #1: Never kill yourself, if its gotten to that point, kill those who make the world unbearable because chances are, you are not the only one who feels that way.

No shit, then at least the mayor could never do it to anyone else again.
If your going to go out, at least do it in a bang (no pun intended)
