introducing myself

Hello, everybody. As you might guess, my name is Dan Sayers. I currently live in Ohio, where I have been a gun owner, carrier, rights activist for about two years now. Including a fairly publicized battle which started over one man's curiosity as to the legality of citizen carry that the Oregon, Ohio police responded to improperly. My resolve was unwavering, though my decorum could've been better. I wasn't prepared for the threat of death and/or abuse of power that I received.

At any rate, I only a few days ago heard about the Free State Project. Since then, I've been doing a lot of reading and watching quite a few videos. New Hampshire reads like a dream come true. Better still, the actions of the people make it look like it's only going to get better. I've all but decided that I will be moving there as soon as is realistic. I will of course sign up with the FSP once I'm certain I will be able to make the move.

I wanted to thank Mr. Ridley and presumably Miss Canario for their YouTube accounts. Thanks to the videos I've been able to watch, it almost feels like I'm already there and already know my new friends.

In the meantime, I'll probably be lurking here. I'm sure I'll chime in too, just trying to get caught up for now. Thought I'd post an introduction to get some networking going on in the interim. Hope I put it in the right place.

To those with server access, I had a minor complaint to bring up if I may. When I registered, I was emailed a fairly common registration email. However, it had my password in plain text. Thought I'd mention it.

Welcome, Dan! I certainly recognize your name from PDO and OCDO.  8)

I'd be very pleased to have you join the FSP, and join the liberty lovers in NH!

As I retrace my steps, I guess Mr. Ridley gets first credit. On opencarry.org, somebody posted a link to his video about Murphy's Tap Room. I heard the phrase "free staters" several times and began to dig. I hit their website and my jaw hit the floor when I read certain things about NH. So I looked up NH on wikipedia and began reading. And like I said on opencarry.org, the more I read, the more I smile :) I mean, even things like reading that you've already passed a law to not participate in Real ID. I am in awe in your independence and the way some of you are working out there, I believe it will only get better.

Quote from: sjhipple on October 07, 2007, 12:44 AM NHFTWhat are your plans at the moment?
I assume you mean in regards to joining FSP and making the move, eh? Well, my father was a heart patient starting at a young age. He's getting on in years, but he's still quite active, mobile, capable, etc. He's taught me almost everything I know and he's been the one person that's always been behind me no matter how difficult I and/or outside circumstances made it for him. One of the many negative side effects of my 2006 arrest was that I had to leave Oregon, Ohio. I moved across town and just that move has made a greater impact in our relationship/time together than I originally imagined.

Anyways, he was on vacation this past week and just got back. I'm going to discuss it with him. I'm torn because if he's not going to be around much longer, I want to stay here. But how am I to know? Assuming his heart keeps going, he should live for quite a bit longer. Then too, he knows how important this cause is for me as well as how imprisoned of a life I've lived and my celebration in how free I am now (which is nothing by comparison to how it would be out there). So he would likely be supportive despite it being difficult for us both. I'd bring him too, but his granddaughters are here and I know he won't make that separation.

Finally, there would be the old housing/job/money debacle. Thanks to the JBT's in Oregon, Ohio, I've been virtually unemployed for the last 14+ months, which has pretty much bankrupt me. Moving takes money and considering I'm drowning as it is, if I couldn't hit the pavement running, I'd drown out there too. Worst part about it is I'm trying to file suit against them for the VERY long list of misconduct and civil rights abuses that took place during that whole episode, which would give me a great head start. Except the process might take 4-5 years and of course that would be that much more difficult if I moved prior to its completion. And the process hasn't even started yet :(

See all the invisible shackles I live with? Is it any wonder freedom is so tempting? ;) Thanks for asking. Perhaps getting it out there like this will help get the necessary wheels rolling. If it weren't for the above shackles, I'd be making the move RIGHT NOW. And since I basically have no life, I would definitely be an asset to the effort as I'd be available for everything from protesting, to making phone calls, to serving time on the inside myself.

Again, I'm proud to have you here, Dan!

It's great to have one more person join the cause. This is what America needs.

Sometimes NH is a nightmare just like the rest of the US empire. But I think it is a good place to start things up.

I am glad you introduced yourself. Posting here will help us get to know you and we can better help your transition to The Shire.

Friends call her Lauren ... the government thugs call her Miss Canario. :) She is married to a guy named Jim.
Mr. Ridley has many nicknames ... some of which we use in his presence. ;)

We just use the standard software for this forum. So any password stuff would be a pain to change, I would guess.

One other thing... there is a lot you can do from wherever you are, that will help a LOT in making NH a more Free State for when you do join us here.
In no particular order:
* AMP Free Talk Live
* Join the NH Liberty Alliance, maybe even throw in a few bucks
* buy a stamp with "freestateproject.org" or "freetalklive.com" on it and stamp your Federal Reserve Notes with them
* white an editorial or letter to the editor to your local newspaper and tell them why you plan to move to New Hampshire as soon as you are able (mention the FSP!)
* call local radio talk shows and tell them hy you plan to move to New Hampshire as soon as you are able (mention the FSP!)

A longer list of stuff is at:

Dan, I don't know what your field is, but there are quite a few new postings over on the we really DO need to get Free State Blogs on the front page of the FSP site.  These videos and stories get people excited...they should be readily available.
Actually I'd rather see the FSP work more like Free State Blogs:
The FSP should be primarily about advertising, marketing, and promoting the Freedom Activism of people already in New Hampshire.

Yes, that's the one. The thread Mr. Craig linked to was the one I stumbled upon AFTER my quest for knowledge of NH/FSP began.

As for job skills, first and foremost, I've never had a job that I didn't pick up quickly and excel at. That said, I've had experience in refrigeration, machine operation (including progressive die setting, forklift, overhead crane), computer repair and sales, clerical, customer service (including telephone based), management, and am capable in web/graphics design. I'd start off flipping burgers if that's what I had to do. Hell, I've managed a couple such places. At the risk of drawing boos from the crowd, I currently "work" as a Security Officer/Private Investigator. A friend owns the company I'm registered through, which was done more as a favor so that I'd have an extra layer of paper defense the next time THEY come looking for me. As such, I really don't see any work except the occassional overflow, which is more scant than sporadical.

@Mr. Goddard: Thank you for the links.

@Mr. Kanning: Thank you for your post and all that you've done for your countrymen. Whatever discomfort NH might have in store for me, it can't be worse than what I've already been through. Which, like many of you already there, I'm willing to do my part to protect liberty. I hope I didn't offend anybody; I call everybody by their last name.
