A cop in a small town in Wisconsin shot and killed six people between the ages of 16 and 21.
Two of the killed were high school students, and two others just graduated from high school.
What a sad thing.
You see more and more cops going bad.
I have been followed by police many times for no reason.
Once, this went on day after day for weeks.
I was even followed by a cop in his car when I was walking.
Sorry, but I just do not trust police any longer.

QuoteSix people have been killed by a gunman who opened fire at a house party in America.

The culprit - shot dead by police after a manhunt - was a an employee of the Forest County Sheriff's Department and a part-time officer for the Crandon Police Department.

One of the victims is believed to be the gunman's ex-girlfriend.

What a terrible tragedy.  Absolutely heart-wrenching.

Be careful not to let confirmation bias creep in here, trying to connect it back too strongly with the fact that the guy was a cop.

This just goes to show that police shouldn't be allowed to have guns. :)

I wonder if he had not been killed the cop would have gotten administrative leave?  ::)

I wonder if there will be any anti-gun talk from this?
If only cops were not allowed to have guns.  :-\

Certain people in our society have proven that they just can't be allowed to have guns without presenting a threat to the rest of us. That is why we must, collectively, do what is best for the common good and institute a strict system of laws designed to keep guns away from these people. It's time to get guns out of the hands of the police.

In all seriousness, though, this probably has nothing to do with the fact that the guy was a cop. A tragedy, but I don't see how it falls into the realm of "police abuses". There are certainly plenty of examples of cops killing innocent people without grasping at straws.

The actual way to solve this problem is to end the war on drugs.

Aside from the fact that this guy might have then had easier access to marijuana, I don't see the connection.

I read about this on yahoo, deputy was 20, and off duty.
allegedly was about jealousy over a women, not related to his job.
very sad for the whole town and especially the families involved.

The war on drugs is the main reason police departments have become so militarized and attracted people who are more likely to have violent tendencies.

I'm not going to go off on the fact that he is/was a cop. But I am going to get really pissed off at statements like

' "Her husband, David Franz, 36, said it was hard to accept that someone in law enforcement committed such an act.

"The first statement we said to each other was, how did he get through the system?" David Franz said. "How do they know somebody's background, especially that young? It is disturbing, to say the least." ' from http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071008/ap_on_re_us/wisconsin_shooting

I agree, shyfrong: that kind of sentiment, the trust most people have in the cops and the screening process, is really common and really disconcerting.

Hmm... I can see that, I guess. Seems a bit of a stretch, though. For all we know this guy wasn't violent at all until he just snapped.

Nice to know they're giving badges to bonafide stalkers.  I wouldn't want a cop sniffing around my mom or daughter or sister any more than I would want a pimp or a mobster doing it.

This killer was 20 years old.  IMO, college age males (and females, for that matter) are still too emotionally immature and full of themselves to turn loose on the streets with a license to kill.  I know that's a generalization and not a fair description of some young people, but the public is involuntarily subjected to the actions of these potentially dangerous individuals known as cops.  Erring on the side of caution is wise.
