A great inspiring song with a simple and positive message.

Same sort of drivel as "Freedom just another word for nothing left to loose"

I think the lyrics have been altered recently to "All you need is Luv's."

Puke

"Ahhh, he's bringing love."
"Break it's legs!!"

I love The Simpsons.  :)

Lloyd Danforth

Love is a good thing.  It, simply,  isn't all you need.

Sheep Fuzzy Wool

SFW bleats:
"All you need is love."
Is this a profound truth?
Or, is it drivel?
Maybe it is not quite enough.
If we do not know what it (love) really is, how can we know whether it is all we need or not?
A fool on the hill once said, "It is not possible to love anyone, but the self."
So, all love is for the self, by the self and to the self.  All of one's love is only one's own experience.
...."and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make."  ;D
"with liberty and justice for all." amen, om, right on brother, kudos,  uh huh.

I can live w/o love, can't say the same for sustenance and shelter.

Shut off the analytical minds for just a second...maybe?..and if you dislike The Beatles (for whatever reason) try to put that aside and look at the lyrics and the message.

I do not think John Lennon wrote "All you need is love" and meant for people to stop eating, drinking, having warmth and shelter etc. His message IMO is that the entire world could  use a bit more caring..on a  receiving AND giving basis...and wouldn't it be nice if there was more love in the world.  He says, " nothing you can do that can't be done." IMO he is saying EVERYTHING is possible  and there are no limits, go for it bro. He tells us we can do ANYTHING and then reminds us "it's easy". It is all positive and encouraging and yes it is about love. But he isn't saying avoid eating and sleeping and fuck like rabbits until you die. Lately it seems when I try and discuss the topic of love, people react quite odd and almost defensive and try to sway the discussion into something else. I am an old hippie and maybe a bit out of sync with the the newage crowd. One poster here says he/she can live without love. If he/she is truly serious that is troubling to me as I could not imagine a world without being loved or being able to give love. And I am not just talking love=sex. All You Need is Love can also be an anti war/anti violence message as well.

My apologies for posting the topic. In younger days I would exert my energy to try and make you see differently or stand up for my beliefs (and for my profession.). But why bother right? It has taken awhile for me to realize it just ain't worth the damn battle anymore. Think as you will. I will stay focused on all the good things in life and love will always be at the top of my list. In such a violent desensitised modern world sometimes the talk of love is not well received. Bummer.

With all the recent shit going down in this forum I though it would be a nice positive post. guess I was wrong.

QuoteLove, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

Yup. Deep insight there.  ;D

Sociopaths by definition CANNOT experience love or any other emotions.

What happens when you are in a struggle against a large group of sociopaths that wield power and control over the economy, the police, and your personal life?

I'm all for doing things IF THEY WORK, but just like I don't think civil disobedience is the be-all end-all tool for achieving liberty, neither do I think peace and love have any effective use when dealing with a societal scourge and racial (Homo sapien, not subgroups) disease.

All of the medicines I've ever seen for infections are bacteriostats or bacteriocides, I've never run across a bacteriophile - I'm quite certain the patient would die of sepsis.

Most here would agree that the goal is not to kill the person, but their office.  Defund the multialphabetic agencies, remove the positions, banish superfluous offices until we can bind government with the chains of the Constitution.  I'd rather choke or beat it to death with that chain, but I'll accept binding for the present discussion.

Maybe if you want to love your neighbor, you can free him from the evils of the office he holds, but that's as far as I'm willing to apply the concept to people who are truly despicable and only want to subjugate, control and hurt everyone else.

When we're relatively free, it will be a good song to celebrate the kind of life that we've won, but as long as there are armies of darkness chanting "all you need is government mandated hate," I think we may need to keep something a little more cunning than love in reserve.

I'm not knocking your effort, or failing to understand your intent, and I don't have anything against the Beatles or you - it's just not where my head's at right now.
Keep thinking positive man, it's needed and will certainly play a vital role in transforming our society, I just don't want people to think that poking flowers into the flash-hiders of M-16's is going to get the thugs to stop pointing their guns at them so that they can't stick the stems in.

Though, if you apply what you're thinking to writing something up about the LOVE in RP rEVOLution, I think that would be really cool and would love to read it.

36 y.o. male here.

Didn't say I was incapable of showing love just relating the state of my current and past reality.

For the record, I don't equate love with sex or vice versa; and don't engage in the latter, without the former.  8)

I hear ya.  When I hear people disparage the importance of love, I can only assume that they have never experienced it, or more likely have become so jaded that they can't recognize it when they see it.  The idea of life without love is utterly depressing to me.  This is why, while I'm nominally an atheist, the notion of hell as 'devoid of God's love' is far more disturbing to me than 'fire and brimstone.'  It's why the most disturbing thing I ever remember hearing on FTL was Ian's call to abandon your family if they are 'holding you back.'

Sorry, wish I could relate a more rosey picture for you, but my experience during this incarnation hasn't shown me that.

Ultimately I don't need to be loved. While my life has it's challenges, the fact that I'm not often shown love does not mean I can't have a fulfilling and rewarding life. IMO, there is a vast distinction between love and attachment.

Most of us confuse love with attachments.
