Just a quick question because I can't dig up the information online (as of yet)
Do I need a NH Driver's License in order to get a CCL?

Also...weird, as I search for things on NH.gov, the results for PDF documents come up like this:

"PDF Dokument"  o.O

RSA 159:6 is the applicable law. DSSP 85 is the form you'll need to fill out.

If they give you a hard time dont be afraid to call the chief and speak your mind(in a nice manner of course) they are only allowed 14 days to respond. Some towns wont respond at all hoping the applicant forgets about it or is afraid to speak up. Congrats on gettng your CCL.

I used my NHDL. I don't know if it is a requirement though.
Maybe a passport would work?

Yep, Concord is one of those. On day 15 I stopped in and they said that it was ready and gave it to me.

When I went back and was told "I don't see it, come back in a few days." I stood there declaring that it had been 14 days over and over until it was produced.

I had an old girlfriend who applied for one in Goffstown. The chief there was going on three weeks so I went in to see him. He basically told me he didnt see any reason for "girls" to need a CCL. She got it that day. The majority of chiefs I know personally have no issue with giving these out to people who want them, in fact you'd be surprised as to how many actually think its a great idea. But as always you'll run into nazis now and again.

"girls" need them more than men do.  They are the great equalizer of the sexes.
I imagine the dumb*** chief has had to have seen in his career a few women beaten and bruised by their 'loving' boyfriends.

They sent me away and told me to come back with my NH DL!

I wonder if they'll issue an out of state one for me for when I visit.  I think I shall try.

Romak

The only way you can get an out of state permit is if you have one in your current state. Im almost positive on that. It takes about two weeks to get and it costs $20.

If you have a carry license from any state you can get one from NH.  This happened in 2004 and was thanks to GONH, the NRA, and some Free Staters all working together (see below).  You can also open carry as a nonresident/resident but without a license you can't have a loaded firearm in your vehicle (see http://opencarry.org/).  I think this restriction would be a good thing to focus on removing.

The NH Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules approved new rules – now, someone with a valid license to carry from any state, not just their own home state, is eligible for a license in New Hampshire. (Before, only home state licensee's were eligible). Here is the link to the new "Chapter Saf-C 2100 Nonresident Pistol/Revolver License" rules: www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rules/saf-c2100.html

For example: Florida offers a "shall issue" carry license to any U.S. citizen. With any one of those licenses anyone can get a New Hampshire carry license, even if one's home state does not issue (such as New Jersey). The application for a "New Hampshire Non-resident Carry License" may be downloaded from this link: webster.state.nh.us/safety/nhsp/documents/dssp260.pdf

Gun Owners of New Hampshire (GONH) www.gonh.org, the NRA, and individual Free State Project (FSP) members working together can take credit for this change. Specifically GONH President and State Representative Hon. Elbert Bicknell (R-73), GONH Director Sam Cohen, and NRA Board of Directors Member Scott Bach, Esq. (NJ) www.bachbio.com were the primary movers of this important change and deserve our thanks. Free State Project Vice President and Gun Rights Liaison Evan F. Nappen, Esq. also directly participated in the request for the change. This change greatly affect FSP participants who come from home States which do not offer a license to carry. Important thanks and credit is also due to New Hampshire Department of Safety Assistant Commissioner Earl M. Sweeney.
