Thought you all might want to check out some interesting comments on the draft posted by individuals and groups of almost every political persuasion.? Visit the Mothers Against the Draft website at: www.mothersagainstthedraft.org? Some examples are:

American Independent Party
The State Central Committee of the American Independent Party met on April 2, 2005, in San Diego, California where it unanimously voted to endorse Mother's Against the Draft. ... ?We oppose imposition of the draft, the registration law, compulsory military training, and other forms of compulsory government service.?

Michael Badnarik 2004 Libertarian Presidential Candidate
Our Constitutional republic is based on the principle that every person owns his or her own body. The institution of slavery has always been an embarrassing violation of that principle. Eventually, seventy four years after the ratification of the Bill of Rights, the Thirteenth Amendment formally acknowledged that slavery and "involuntary servitude" are unacceptable in a civilized society. However, we now face the disturbing possibility that our government wil resume the abhorent practice of compulsory military conscription, forcing hundreds of thousands of young adults into "involuntary servitude". The draft and other forms of mandatory public service will only be possible if an unthinking nationalistic fervor replaces our genuine love of liberty. Therefore, it is with great pride that I endorse the Mothers Against the Draft, and I promise to do everything I can to support their efforts. Together we must prevent Congress from violating their oaths of office by kidnapping our children for use as cannon fodder in countless military conflicts around the world.

Daniel New co-author of Michael New ? Mercenary... or American Soldier
Mothers Against the Draft is not anti-government, not anti-American, not anti-War, per se. They are opposed to involuntary servitude. They oppose the creation of "21st Century press gangs" which would drag citizens off to serve against their will -- one of the defining marks of tyranny. The concept of a Draft and the concept of Liberty are mutually exclusive.

BTW, the poll is showing the NO vote at 44%! ~ Jan
