CALLING ALL ANARCHISTS AND ANTI-AUTHORITARIANS

for The 5th General Assembly of
the North East Anarchist Network
on November 17th and 18th in Amherst, MA.

The Northeast Anarchist Network is a horizontal network linking those in
the Northeast region of North America committed to anti-authoritarian,
anti-capitalist, and anti-oppressive struggles. The Network (NEaN) is
based on the voluntary association of autonomous local groups,
collectives, assemblies, and individuals committed to these aims. NEaN
has been in formation since February 2007 and has thus far seen 4 region-wide
general assemblies and various sub-regional gatherings with
representation from Maine to Pittsburgh and Cape Cod to Syracuse.

Through this process we have built relationships and structures through
which to support our own local struggles, but also create region-wide
campaigns and working groups. The coming assembly will solidify these
structures and region-wide committees through which we function, and
encourage more collectives to officially affiliate with the Network.

As a network, we support and are informed by our various identity based
caucuses. These caucuses are designed as safe spaces for historically
marginalized groups through which we may empower our voices, in what some
may find to be intimidating discussions and actions. Our caucuses have
included in the past, but are not limited to, people of color,
woman-identified/female bodied, genderqueer, working-class/poor folks,
and queer caucuses.

I may try to attend this. Not sure what to make of it yet but it's enough to inspire my curiosity. Plus, I can hand out promotional material for my toons.  8)

Yeah, Amherst is only 2 hours from Amherst (NH) and it's an interesting town.

Might be good to have some free market anarchist representation there.

Russell Kanning

We probably will not be able to make it. I would love to have a report for the paper from you Dale. You can represent the republic of NH if you wish (Caleb and others would approve) or whatever groups we have. My favorite idea is "The Shire". :)

Good luck with it. It sounds like they need some free market anarchists. With lines like "anti-capitalist, and anti-oppressive struggles", I suspect they're the communist "anarchists" ( ::) ) who wear black masks and throw rocks and destroy private property.

We just watched Fight Club.  :icon_pirat:

You know, the more you start to understand the intricacies of the economy, it becomes increasingly clear that the super-rich really are in bed with government. I can't help but be a little optimistic that some of these anti-capitalists are just a hair away from being proper anarcho-capitalists if they can just be helped to understand how the privilege of using force is basically for sell from our corrupt governments, and that many corporations are using it so they don't have to earn their market share in the traditional since.

Seriously. I 'converted' some greens on another forum simply because we spent some time figuring out that our terminology was nearly, or completely the same. I'm sure the conspiracy theory freaks would say that the illuminate is trying to divide and conquer us by making this happen but whatever.

Being that Amherst, MA is my hometown I would say that you are right on the money (as it were) with this assessment.

I would say some, but I wouldn't make the blanket statement of all. Too bad we're living a mercantilist economy instead of a free market.

You hit an important issue there. If we don't first consider someone's vocabulary and how it might be different from our own, we may end up in one of those long arguments where after a couple of hours of heated debate, we discover we agree! That used to happen to me all the time - early days before I learned to listen first to what they "meant" - had to get off the hard name-calling and get down to meanings.
