I counted 24, but one wasn't born yet.

I was telling my sister about the gathering. She was impressed and interested in the idea of folks coming together to share the holiday with their new "family".  :)

Jim Johnson

It was great spending time with the new family.

It is a wonderful feeling being with people I enjoy.

Thanks to everyone who came and those who wanted to but couldn't.   ;D

I am personally very pleased at the turnout.  I believe social events were very important to those involved in the civil rights struggle, for  of course old fashion solidarity, but also just to relieve some tension and relax.   8)

The cooks did a fantastic job.

I'm sure there must have been a slight pall in the air due to the absence of Pat and myself

to me .... Thanksgiving has almost always been about friends ... not family. When I was a kid our relatives were too far away to see over Thanksgiving, so we almost always had friends over or when to other parties. :)
This is just what we do in The Shire. 8)

Yes, the turkey was great, and I especially liked the sweet potato casserole and acorn squash thingies.

The M&Ms you brought were good, too, David.

My personal favorite was the undisclosed veggie green bean casserole, it was scrumptious ;) :)

The turkey was some of the best I've ever tasted, very juicy and tasty!  Jim and Lauren did an excellent job of thawing and cooking the turkeys.

Kat Kanning

Yes, I admired the superior way they thawed those turkeys.

I couldn't help but notice what a great job Jim did carving the turkey .
Jim you get my vote for turkey carver and I have seen many turkey carved. after working at harts turkey farm for years.
and all the other foods were prepared perfectly in my opinion.

Was trying to remember how to dance the salsa, but guess I'm too old  ;)

Last night we found a giant yogurt container in the fridge.  To our delight it didn't have organic yogurt in it, it had salsa!  :D
