I've got a website up now for the NH Liberty Essay Contest:

http://www.nhlibertyessay.com/

I'm not promoting it yet.  I'd first like to get some eyes on it and get some feedback.

I'd like to hear any suggestions for the recommended reading list.  Ideally, I'd like to list a couple more essays in support of the theme.  A good essay to list would be readable, not too long, and either famous or by someone who is/was somewhat well-known.

I struggled a lot with the the age/prize structure.  I figured I would target young adults and teenagers, and I only have so much money to give so I didn't want to do more than 2 brackets.  I also think I am less likely to receive submissions from younger people, even if I had age brackets targeted at them.  I also want to just have one theme.

You can post feedback here or e-mail it to the address on the website.

Thanks,
Jacob

I love this idea!!

For the reading list, I would recommend the following very, very short essay by David D Friedman (son of the economist Milton Friedman):
SOCIALISM, LIMITED GOVERNMENT, ANARCHY, AND BIKINIS

Jacobus

That is an excellent short essay and just the type of thing I am looking for!

Anyone else have any recommendations?
