Is anyone around here into any of the winter sports?

How about sharing tips for your favorite places to do these things:

Downhill ski: Not much right in our area, Mount Sunapee isn't bad, but we often go over to Mt Snow in VT. Granite Gorge on Route 9 is great for beginners.

Cross-country ski: Nice trail at Granite Gorge on Route 9 goes through Otter Brook park.

Snowboard: The girls have taken a lesson or two at Granite Gorge.

Ice skate: Do they have it at Robin Hood park in Keene?

Snowshoe: Haven't tried it yet and not sure where to go.

Sledding: Fun but where?

Tubing: Granite Gorge, it's a blast for the kids

If anyone else likes any of these things, maybe we could plan some days to gather together to have some fun. If you don't get out and enjoy it, it can be a long winter!

Sledding is supposed to be really good in Amherst right on Rte 101. There's a place there that tons of people go to - there's even a tunnel under the road. to get to the hills.

My favorite winter sport is curling up in front of the fireplace.

TackleTheWorld

I agree, but the ice always melts around the fireplace.

Well, maneuvering through an icy/snowed-in parking lot while drunk can be similar to an obstacle course, and thus could be considered a winter sport.

I know I've found much amusement watching it before; beats watching "traditional" sports any day. :icon_pirat:

Oh, man, you guys have totally hijacked my thread!  :P

Guess I won't be seeing any of you on the slopes!

EJinCT

I asked for a definition of "sports".  :P  ;D

I guess if "winter sports" only take place on slopes you would be right.   :-\

I would be interested in sledding and tubbing locations in the Sunapee region.

Can anyone teach me how to walk with snow shoes?
