;D ;D ;D

I just had some guy come up my "driveway" lost... I come to the door in my underwear with a rifle. He'll have a story to tell folks back in the city.

LOL  ;D

edit: also, has anyone seen the episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Charlie and Frank become addicted to looking through garbage and basically become homeless people (through their obsession with digging through the garbage)
Yup!

"Freegans believe that housing is a RIGHT, not a privilege. Just as freegans consider it an atrocity for people to starve while food is thrown away, we are also outraged that people literally freeze to death on the streets while landlords and cities keep buildings boarded up and vacant because they can't turn a profit on making them available as housing."

Wait...housing is a right, not a privilege?? They want to force a landlord to keep an apartment building open, even if he can't make any money in doing so?? What, HE doesn't also have to put a roof over his head? How can people's thinking be sooooo whacked?? Then again, they are digging in a dumpster for dinner. I mean, I'm okay with that aspect of it, a lot of food is wasted and if they want to try and make a dent in the amount of perfectly good food that is thrown away, more power to them, but don't sit and bitch about "housing is a right" when I already pay PLENTY of money for people to have the "right" to live in a nice apartment, even though all they do is sit and drink alcohol on their porch all day.  ::)

Hee hee I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Photos?

Freegans sound like the same thing as the hippies in the 60s once again, denouncing capitalism while depending on it for living --- scrounging off its very garbage and 'the rich'. (Poor people would not be throwing much away in the way of food for them to forage!)

What a sad way to live.

Ratty --  they went to college and instead of learning the work ethic and how to take care of oneself, they instead took their socialist brainwashing to an extreme and learned to bitch about the government and how we need more socialism.

I've had the displeasure of encountering many socialists in my life.  I have never once heard one advocate voluntary participation socialism.  Its ALWAYS mandatory.  If socialism is so wonderful, why not set up some voluntary systems and see how popular they are?

John Edward Mercier

There has been many such attempts... but sanity, or the lack of basics, somehow creeps in.
Idealism hits pragmatism...

As Mericer says, there were lots of utopian socialist experimental communities in the 1800s US. They all failed. "Socialist" countries never allowed voluntary socialist communities.

Now there are lots of utopian capitalist communities in the ex-socialist countries, and many of them are working  ;D

And 40 years from now some of these freegans will be working, too.
