Staffing agencies?

Time for me to find some full-time employment.  :-\  ;D

In CT, it is becoming a standard practice for many companies to do their hiring through Temp's, so...

Anyone have any experiences with the local staffing agencies?

Good, or not so good, opinions welcomed and appreciated.

I'm in Keene, so it might not be relevant.
I used Masiello. A large staff agency. Wasn't too bad. I've never used a temp agency before, so I have no real experience rating one.

I used http://epsservice.com when I got here, and they got me a job pretty quickly in manufacturing.  It might actually be a bit tough here at the end of the year, as a lot of companies will be putting off hiring (even temps) until after the beginning of the new year.

But I worked with Dennis Amico, and he was great.  They're located in Manchester.  They're a "90 day temp to hire" place, and they pay weekly.

A lot of retail places want temps for Christmas shopping.

I googled this last week "Temp agencies Manchester NH" and found 3 that seemed pretty good. I'd google them again and post links here, but I'm too lazy.

Labor Ready is located on South Willow Street. Can't say anything about them myself, except I know someone who was finding work through them and didn't hear any complaints.

Worked labor ready.  They don't pay very good, but if you have a car and are willing to give rides, (you get paid to give rides) you can almost get a job immediately.  It is more day labor than temp work, but I mostly liked it.

Okay, feeling less lazy this morning:

All better than labor ready; a lot of them even offer direct hire. They do, however, tend to require some sort of skills, specialised training or degree. But a good place to start for sure!

Very nice; thanks all.  8)

I don't have much as far as a paper trail is concerned as I've mostly done off the books employment for the past 15 years or so, but IME, being  reliable, punctual, trustworthy and able to work unsupervised has been a greater asset than paper qualifications anyway. I have already browsed a few agencies job listings, and there is work available, so all that is left is convincing a staffing rep to give me an opportunity.

I was thinking  of something in the manufacturing/light industrial sector; (packing/shipping, assembly, QC, etc.)

Theres always flipping burgers or washing dishes, but I would strongly prefer to avoid those types of positions if possible.  ;D

I, too, am in Keene, and found employment fast through Masiello.  Having worked for several different temp agencies in the past, I am so far quite impressed with them.

They hooked me up fast with a temp job at Smith's Medical in Keene, packing medical supplies.  The pay is decent, the work is easy, and the people are wonderful -- I have met a lot of pro-freedom folks there.  Significantly, no one there has voiced any objections to the often extreme and provocative pro-freedom messages displayed on my shirts :)

If you contact them, be sure to ask for Dennise.  She is my contact person at Masiello, and has always been very helpful and informative.  Some of my fellow Masiello temps have told me that some of the other contacts at Masiello are not as helpful as she is.
