I'm sure if you asked any of them from the three stories they'd all say the same thing.

Just doin' my job.

And we pay for it. Sweet huh?

I cannot....not any way I stretch my mind....make that action make sense. I could never brutalize an animal...I just couldn't do it. I don't know how some people can be so twisted.

Why did they jsut let him kill their dog?? Because he's a cop?? I wouldn't let anyone shoot my dog....wtf is wrong with people that they would just let someone shoot their dog. Nobody's going to shoot Shelby or Molly....I can't imagine letting someone shoot my dog. :( Not ever. They are my best friends.

Am I the only person here who feels like they'd never let this stupid cop shoot their dog?? Colin would NEVER let that happen.

I don't have a dog but we had a dog when I was little and I can recall the way I felt about them - if a cop wanted to take down my dog and my dog had done no harm to anyone, he'd have to go through me and my rifle first.

Puke

If a person shot their own dog like that they would be in jail for animal cruelty.

John

I'm starting to think that many law enforcement type creeps really would love to use their guns much more often . . . They know they can get away with shooting animals . . .

Bald Eagle

1.  The dumbf*** shot the dog THREE TIMES with A RIFLE and it's still alive.
And people trust these incompetent nitwits with guns?

2. "I'd like to complain about an officer that bit me..."
     "Got any proof?"
     "Do I need any?"

I feel the same way, but what alternatives are there for a rifle-bearing, crazy man intent on trespassing, assault, and/or killing pets/livestock?

Instead of reading about a story about a poor dog, would we have instead read a story about a family man who "went crazy" and gunned down a cop "in cold blood"? Would not the comments on such a story largely carry the sentiment that "a dog isn't worth killing a human over", ala Mr. Horn's case?

I'll bet the crime rate in Mr. Horn's neighborhood goes way down.

LiveFree

I seem to remember something in some document somewhere about the government not being allowed to take property without due process of law...

Now, while some may not think of their animals as property but rather as members of the family, they are technically property under the law, and thus shouldn't (and legally, cannot) be taken without due process.  Also, wouldn't the cop need a warrant to even take the dog, let alone shoot it?

This Officer Rambo should be shitcanned post haste.

LiveFree

Jesus, don't these retards get warrants anymore???  That story from the Sentinel is appalling in that the deputy just went right onto the person's property w/ no warrant.  Is a dog barking a crime???  And since dogs can't legally commit a crime, is having your dog going nuts a crime?  Does it warrant a cop conducting a warrantless search and siezure!?!

My god, these morons need to be restrained!

I would agree.

I'm honestly in shock over this story...I think this officer is suffering some sort of imbalance. Even if the dog had been a dangerous baby eater, isn't the protocol for putting down a dangerous dog usually to take the animal to a vet to be humanely put to sleep? I thought we'd come a long way since the "tie it to a stake and shoot it in the head with a rifle" days. :( It's simply inhumane.

My dogs are my property...now, they are also treated like family...but as far as anyone else is concerned, they are mine, they belong to me. Killing my dog is stealing something very precious from me.
