Hey man, Since last week I have noticed that my laptop has been making odd noises, kinda like a gurgle sound and runs for about 5 minutes like that. If I unplug my isp connection it stops. Is someone trying to download my hardrive stuff? and if so, is there anyway I can find out who the fuck it is?

I have noticed this before and I have had the same laptop for about 6 years.

shit..edit: I just re read this and I meant to say "I have NOT noticed this ever before..."

I do not think I have ad-aware and I do not know how to record it to post it online. I will call my computer guy..he is a pretty good joe.

This is pissing me off. It sounds just like something is downloading into my pc or uploading into theirs . Pc runs fine and firewall is up.

just looked. I have Lavasoft Ad Aware SE. I ran it and 131 "new critical objects" were found! holyshit.

btw.. when the ad-aware was scanning, that is the same sound my pc makes...and the software is not set to function by itself and scan.

i will try and decipher all the logfiles but prolly won't be able to figure it out.

Firewalls won't do squat against most malware.

Running Windows is good for our business, keeps you coming back for more service month after month.

Kola I am by far no expert on this stuff when you get your logs or report or whatever it is... start googling around about the stuff.  you may find an answer there on certain ones.

First thing, backup important files. It could be your hard drive failing (take it from someone who knows  :o ).

erisian

Right after you finish your back up, scrap WinDoh!s and install Linux. It's free as in speech, and it doesn't get viruses, spyware, adware or any of that crap. It does what you tell it to do. Get a Ubuntu or Kubuntu live CD or DVD, and you can even take it for a test drive before you commit to an install.
