Natural supplements for concentation?

I'm a young person, and I have concentration issues. I used to be on RX meds for ADD in HS, but no longer take them as of several years ago due to cost and the fact that I'd rather not be amped up on artificial chemicals if I can avoid it. Long story short, I'm much better at dealing with distractions than I used to be, but it's still very hard to focus on tasks I don't like for more than a few minutes at a time. A friend of mine is now selling a product called Brite Life, but it seems a bit hypetastic to me. Does anyone know of any reliable sources of information on such things? I'd rather use natural remedies and therapeutic practices than RX drugs if at all possible.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Homeopathic remedies for memory improvement/clarity include Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng ( Asian, American & Siberian) & Rosemary.

Might I suggest you take an in depth evaluation of your lifestyle to see if modifications could be made there first. Proper rest, nutrition and mindset will dramatically improve any homeopathic remedies effectiveness as well, IME. Perhaps a detox would be beneficial as well.

If you are seriously considering going the homeopathic route I strongly advise you to visit a homeopathic physician. There are likely to be many unique individual variables related to your body chemistry that may have a serious bearing on ones ability to effectively & safely self-medicate.

Green Tea has been reported to assist as well and can be used fairly safely ( if one has any modicum of "common sense") without needing to see a professional.

Hope that helps.  8)

Last year, I ran across a whole food product that makes all the difference in the world for me.  Whenever I include this product in my diet consistently, not only does it heighten my ability to concentrate, but it keeps my mood evenly elevated (normally, I experience low-level depression), and gives me sustained energy without any stimulants.

You might try getting involved in some form of martial art that teaches meditation techniques. I would look at the Japanese martial arts. They may not be the most practical/realistic when it comes to fighting but you can definitely learn to slow down and step outside your own body a bit.

I had ADD when I was a kid. I did the Ritalin thing and all that. It sucked. I got involved in martial arts and that helped quite a bit.

Excellent suggestion. Also consider the Chinese "internal" arts; Chi-Kung & Tai Chi Chaun.

I'll look into that. High doses of caffeine used to work but now I'm immune :\ For better or worse, my body chemistry is such that I can become highly tolerant of various chemicals. For example, I take melatonin as a sleep aid (I have moderate insomnia). When I first started taking it, 1mg worked. Now I take 6mg.
