Working without a Slave Surveillance Number
« on: December 06, 2007, 03:19 PM NHFT »

The perfect arrangement is to work for myself.  I know this.  Local economy has crashed in the Everglades FL.   I sew for a living, and there are no customers.  Therefore, I went job-hunting.   Needing just enuf $$$ to get to the Shire.  Here's how it goes:

16 interviews ....  landed 14 of the positions offered ...  employers refused to be educated as to the voluntary nature of participation in the socialist scam.  I had the USCFR regs in my hand, ready to help them learn.    Wrote on the W4's...
1. "I do not wish to volunteer, I am not a federal employee according to 26 CFR 31.3402(p)-1(b), and IRC ยง3402(p)(3)(a), and only federal employees, active military, nonresident aliens, and people in Guam, the US V.I., and Puerto Rico or the Marianas are required to have a SSN."
2. "Your company does not have a valid 'Delegation of Authority Letter' from the Commissioner of the IRS which names any of your corporate officers, board members, accountants, or attorneys as the withholding agent for the organization.  The company does not have the authorization to determine any tax liability for its workers without that specific letter."
3.  The Paperwork Reduction Act mandates that all official government forms carry a valid OMB number.  The IRS FormW4 is invalid, null and void because it lacks the required number.

Today I began a new job.  Just to get the $$$$ together so I can actually move to NH!    I'm selling off all my sewing equipment and 1000+ yards of brand new fabrics for a song... again, for the $$$$ to move on.   I was going to quit the job without notice on a payday, once I got all this stuff sold.   LOL.  Anyway ... two hours later, the corporate bean counter wouldn't hear of it... handed me $50 cash, told me he couldn't have anyone making waves. He agrees with me in principle, but is unwilling to stick his neck out - no matter how much benefit a new worker might be to the organisation.

I've been homeless and starving before.  Not a nice place to visit again.  However, I refuse to cave in.  Any suggestions on how to actually find work and NOT have a SSN????   When I get to NH, I won't have the necessary equipment I need to get started on my own.    I need to sell it just to get the $$$ to get there.    And once there, I do have a place to live while I'm looking for work or trying to figure out how to set up again on my own.   The forum posts many helpful housing suggestions, and I have a very kind offer from another freestater.  Thanks, you know who you are!!!   :-*

I am 1600 miles away, will come with nothing but my computer, cameras, clothes, a sewing machine ... and a heap of energy.  That's all that fits in my hurricane-battered little truck.  Hoping to have enough $$ for 2 months living expenses there.   By that time I'll have things sorted

There are lots of setbacks when you won't play the sheeple game.  I want to get to the Shire before Christmas.   I refuse to jump back into the sheeple way of doing things.  I've been slugging it out on my own a decade now... too late to go back.   Freedom!!!  Sovereignty!!!  Privacy!!!  Leave me be and I'll do the same for you!!!  Self-sufficiency!!!   Darn, who would've thought such simple ideas would have so many obstacles toward achieving them?

I'm a little discouraged and frustrated.  I apologize for the rambling.   It helps to know so many of you have been through the same.  :)
I just want to get there... and I MUST be self-supporting on arrival.  I won't have it any other way.

Might it help to tell the corporate bean counter your plan to only work there a short period of time to gather the money to go to NH (or "to move to another state" for privacy)? If this guy/gal really does agree with you on principle, maybe you can convince him/her to allow you to work there SSN-free for a month or 2, claiming to his superiors that the paperwork "got lost" and "is just awaiting one more signature," etc.

PowerPenguin - if you're just doing freelance work what is holding you from moving tomorrow?

I'm serious.  It's much easier to do work when you can sit down with clients or sit down at their physical machine, and post-move you can be far more effective.

Elf, that's quite an undertaking!  It takes approximately $500 in gasoline to get here from there -- and a lot more to cover 2 months living expenses, winter clothing, and various other winterization expenses.

I absolutely admire your tenacious attitude!  That attitude alone will get you here, and carry you through any hard times you may face once you get here.

When I moved up, I had to settle for a job at a temp agency just to re-establish an income source.  I did use my SS#, but I do not let them withold income tax.

As far as selling your equipment and supplies in order to get here, would it cost almost as much in extra expenses to get them here (trailer rental), as it would cost to purchase fresh stock and equipment once you are here?  If those are your bread and butter, they could very well be the solution to your current dilemma of how to establish SS-free income once you are here.

How about using ArcRiley's recent technique, of selling prepaid discount labor certificates?  I would certainly be willing to purchase a few of those to help a fellow porc get here pronto :)

Thanks for the encouragment and info.    Fuel is $3.69 out there on I-95 today, I checked.    :)
As for the SS#... no.   Never again.
As for truck rental:   Budget truck $800 + $1500 deposit for a 16' truck, car carrier for my little S-10 pickup $195 + $300 deposit.   Fuel estimated at $850+.    Hotel 1 night halfway through the trip... about $100 I estimate in mid-North Carolina or Virginia.

Bringing all this stuff doesn't make good business sense.  There are industrial duty stack-racks needing two strong guys to assemble/disassemble.
I don't have any help here...  people are leaving in droves.
It will take 2 months to work it all up into finished goods, and then no guaranteed market.    I weighed the costs:benefits to many scenarios.
It just makes better sense for capital and time management to start over with the minimum of equipment and supplies.
So, I'll bring  2 sewing machines, a hundred yards of hard wearing fabrics, patterns and a few other design and layout essentials.
The computer and my cameras, some books and clothes.   Nothing else fits ... a 2000 S-10 doesn't hold much.
Everything else is being sold ...   I'd rather have plain ol' cash.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.   A little war went on in my head.. does it stay, does it go?
Geez, a month of agonizing over it.   LOL

The certificate idea is brilliant.   Will try my hand in graphic design soon as I log off here.  lol
I have another semi-pro skill.   Once upon a time in a lifetime long ago...  there was a photograher's heart beating inside.  I still have most of the gear.
So that's another $$$ option.

By the way, sqlrebel ... I grew up in the Great Lakes snowbelt.
You're outta yer head living rough like that.   LOL.
One last thing.

The freedomthinkers here are amazing!   Can't wait to meet you.   The day cometh.

Where will you be settling in?  Keene, I hope??? :)

Will you be coming up I-75 through Sarasota?  If so, pm me... maybe we can do lunch or something.  I will be arriving in Sarasota tomorrow (Dec. 20) at 8PM, for the holidays.
