Jane, Pat , The Bear and the the great Turkey Leg scuffle.

I think this a good title for a shorty Dawkins story.

Hey I'm going on air in about 3 minutes, so listen up!

Our 'whistleblower' guest is talking about how many millions of dollars were being abused at HHS in NH gov't.

The information is mind-blowing.

We'll have to save it for the Jamboree Story Night.

A year isn't nearly long enough to avoid conflicts of interest.

My regional director retired in June. He immediately went to work for a private contractor that competes with our agency. We have a two-year lockout policy for competition, but he's already bidding for 2006 contracts that will take effect in 2007... right after his lockout period.  ::) The timing is comical: he had three years to implement policies that put us at a disadvantage, and favored his future employer, and when he retired, it was just in time to bid on contracts that won't go into effect until the first possible opening after his lockout period.

Gee, what a coincidence.  ::)

I'm sure we have mixed opinions here about the proper role of government and prisons, but we're of one mind when it comes to getting privately rich off of insider government contracts.

Yesterday, I glanced out the window at 6:30 am and was admiring the fog over the snow in the tree stand behind the apartment when I saw a fox trot away. That was surprising here in town, but I have seen deer and turkey already, so maybe it isn't so surprising. I walked into the livingroom and for some reason, glanced out that window. Right below the sill, which is maybe 6 inches off the ground, an animal scurried away at the curtain movement. If skunks can come in brown and black, I think that is what it was. Maybe that is why the fox was around.

Could have been a gopher, or fishercat. It is not suprising to see animals in the city -- we've had moose in the city of Lowell, Mass before.
I've had huge bucks, moose, gophers, fox, coyotes and even a bobcat in my yard.
If what you saw was tannish in color it was most likely a coyote.
I saw one at a residence in Boston last month!

Maybe it was a coyote. It wasn't quite as spindly legged as the foxes I have seen in the past. The brown and black thing ran away from me pretty fast. It was long haired, low to the ground and running away, so I couldn't see it's snout.

Holy cow how could I have missed it? It was likely a ------------------- PORCUPINE!

I've lived in NH for almost 54 years, but I have never seen a bear. Seen moose, deer, skunks, even a Mountain lion, but never a bear. Bummer.

I don't know about N.H., but I hear the best way to see a bear in Calif. is to go camping in the mountains and get careless with your garbage.
