Anyone watching the Rose Parade right now? There is a group of people from la.indymedia.org protesting in the crowd. You can see signs all throughout the parade saying things like IMPEACH in big letters. They are right at the first turn where the museum is so they are on all the screens.

I can't wait to see if the fuzz comes and arrests them.

impeaching seems like a good idea :)

Wouldn't impeachment be a political solution to a political problem?

Shouldn't they be at the Peach Bowl instead?  ;)

That may have been the White Rose Coalition with Cindy Sheehan.

Ron Paul was there, too, at the corner of Orange Grove and Colorado Blvd.  ;D

You know it has gotten really bad when die hard anarchists are in favor of a political solution.

I couldn't help but wonder that myself.

If Bush were successfully impeached, wouldn't folks get the idea that government can save us from itself?

Russell??... are you feeling alright today?! ;D

I don't think so. From Wikipedia:
QuoteIn his second term [Bill Clinton] was impeached by the U.S. House for perjury, but was subsequently acquitted by the United States Senate and completed his term.
Bill was impeached for comparatively stupid reasons than Bush would be, but I don't think a significant portion of the population would think that government could save us from itself. If Bush was impeached and forced to leave office (and was publicly embarrassed, etc.), it might actually have the effect of solidifying in people's minds that the current system of government "works" - it removes evil-doers. Which is baloney, of course.

maybe you are right .... but I don't want to discourage some activists in LA from hassling the rotten president. :)

Is the difference between your not wanting to discourage some activists in LA from using politics to take down politics, and your wanting to discourage activists in NH from using politics to take down politics, that one group is in LA and the other group is in NH?

I am discouraging talking about using political means .... on our forum.

Also ... impeaching a president is much closer to striking the root than say ... running for office or supporting those with a very moderate agenda for "change". :) Besides impeaching is fun.

Impeachment is using a remedy the system provides in order to remove a bad president from office. But aren't remedies the system provides—e.g., voting—immoral, and isn't using them legitimizing the existence of the system?
