In just four years, 71 traffic crashes occurred at the intersection of Illinois Routes 162 and 157.

Illinois Department of Transportation officials say — and they aim to make it safer and improve traffic flow.

"It's better for us to hear from (people) early on and incorporate it into the design,"

Here's a brilliant citizen weighing in on the issue and offering a suggestion I would not put past the officials actually considering...and possibly implementing.

I can clearly see the entire problem is with smokers when they drive through the intersections, because the cars are so smoked up that they just cant see so IDOT needs to put up huge signs and order drivers to not smoke when they drive through this intersection. Oh and to keep everybody happy they can still smoke before the intersection and after the intersection. Thank You

"realblondehairstylist," eh?

Then we can have accidents caused by people becoming distracted trying to put out their cigarettes before they hit the intersection and lighting up again afterward.

But... it would eliminate the accidents caused by smokers not being able to see through the smoke.

That is good thing, right?  No need to concern ourselves with any potential negative consequences, as long as it does some good :icon_pirat:

Maybe they are being a bit facetious?

Because it would take way more that the 600 mL (~1 pint) of smoke to fill a car to the point one could not see the lights or signs.

I have smoked cigars in my car.
There is no way to generate enough smoke with a cigarette to ruin visibility.

I suggest the problem is the cars. No cars allowed at this intersection!

Depends on the nature (and size) of the cigarette.

:)
Perhaps I should clarify.

Illinois is already a no smoking zone within 15 feet of any public place or business. They tried to make smoking in the car with an infant a felony. Ya, right I wouldn't put it past them.

Note to realblondehairstylist: Ever heard of a window? There's a forehead smacker.

I love Cheech & Chong!  I would love to make friends with them and Willie Nelson too!  I'm going to see if I can post this funny Toby Keith song on here about Willie Nelson.

Here it is:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfgZH8kFAKc&feature=related

Some people think caps are yelling, so, you must be yelling :P  My criticism is that your post makes no sense.

A reference to Cheech and Chong, driving accidents and smoking....ya with me?
A roach is the short remains of a marijuana cigarette....still there?
OK... ROACH DOWN ...reference to someone YELLING that he has dropped a roach and will likely crash his car because the roach is more important than the act of driving. you obviously haven't grown up here to understand the reference.. in the future if you don't get it...don't make yourself sound stupid and make spiteful comments to compensate for your own ignorance!         welcome to NH buddy, we can play nicely but if you bring it, it will be reciprocated tenfold!

I could bury you and your fucking car in all of the roaches I have created.  As each of the C&C albums came out my friends and I listened to them over and over and then 'impressed' each other repeating the lines those guys wrote.  Then C&C made some movies that were OK, but, not as 'cutting' as the albums were.
Do to the availability of video guys like you watch feeble films over and over again and impress each other repeating the lines and then get on an adult forum thinking that there exist some 'universal' world awareness of the drivel that you find entertaining.
