What if Ron Paul does not win?

I wonder if anyone got that on video.  I'd like to see that and gauge whether it was said tongue-in-cheek or with sincerity.

While I'm still supporting him whole-heartedly, I think at this point it's time to admit Ron Paul probably won't be the next President. I'm looking forward to his Libertarian campaign, though. Or who knows... it's not too late for him to have some fun screwing with the GOP convention if he has enough delegates and they end up with a brokered convention.

Still, Ron Paul not winning should not be a disappointment to anybody. He's already done more to advance the cause of liberty than three decades of Libertarian Party presidential candidates combined. Looking at the long-term demographic trends, Paul has revived (and improved) the anti-neoconservative wing of the GOP- who will be waiting in the wings to take control once neoconservatism collapses, which it's looking like it will after 2008. Even if it doesn't, Ron Paul has already proven that libertarianism is a major political force amongst the younger generation- it's just the damn Baby Boombers screwing things up, as usual.  ;) Good news is, older people tend to die off faster.

So even if Ron Paul jumps ship to the LP and only pulls in 5% in the general election (which is on the low end of what he could reasonably be expected to get, and 5x more than any other Libertarian has ever got), his campaign has been an enormously positive thing. It's shown that even a man who with all of Ron Paul's shortcomings (relatively poor speaker, mismanaged campaign, old, etc...) can make a huge splash with the libertarian message- something that has never happened before. Just imagine what could happen when the next Ron Paul-type candidate runs, and has this campaign to learn from and build off of.

"So I got to thinking, if this exploratory committee doesn't go well maybe I oughta consider moving here and running for a statewide race." [raucous applause] "I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding."

Thank you for the video reference!

As for Paul's chances, they are actually on their way back up.

Thompson is out.  Huckabee and Giuliani are reportedly up against the ropes with no money to proceed with their campaigns.

It's looking very much like this will be a three way race between Paul, Romney, and McCain all the way to the convention.

John Edward Mercier

No money to campaign may make less of a difference this far in. They're names and positions are pretty well known. Guiliani is very dependent on the outcome of Super Tuesday.

And since the Congress is currently a Democratic majority, if Hitlary gets elected, I'd expect quite a lot to "get done," unfortunately.

maybe i need to explain myself, i do not consider the Federal congress having much impact on my life... i keep it simple and tend to focus my thoughts on grass roots and local gov. the problem in the US is the power control from the urban areas whereas they tend to have more control over the thoughts and will of city folk with EDUCATION LABOR UNIONS AND POLITICAL MACHINES THERE FOR DICTATING THE MEDIA AND THE DEBATE THERE OF. IF A "SOCIAL REVOLUTION IS TO OCCUR ONE MUST RETACE HISTORY AND FOLLOW THE BLUE PRINTS OUR PATRIOTIC LEADERS HAVE WRITEN AND IT STARTS IN THE COUNTYSIDE, LET THE CITIES FALL OF THEIR OWN ILL WILL I WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN HERE!

I am just just sick and tired of hearing sheeple talking about dems, repubs....and all that other horseplop...as if all the problems are the fault of a  certain "party", It just shows how fricken stupidassed they are.

is "stupidassed" a  word?...maybe "stupid-assed"?

anyway..Its just one of those pissed off days for me.
