For Most Roller Mouses.

Unplug the mouse or turn off the computer.
Turn the mouse on it's back.
There is a disk that holds the mouse ball in, it has two arrows it.
The arrows point the direction in which turn the disk, to remove the ball.
Cup the mouse with both hands and place your thumbs on the arrows and turn the disk.
Turn the mouse over and the disk and ball will fall out.  Keep the ball clean, it collects cat hair very fast.
Look inside the mouse body.  There are two wheels that the mouse rides on.  Clean the gunk off the wheels with your finger nail.  They should clean fairly easily and have smooth surfaces when you are done.
place the ball back in the hole and reinstall the disk.

if that dont work, throw it hard against the wall.

I followed all of the directions and when I took the ball out the rolly thing starting clicking down like it should but as soon as I cleaned everything and put the ball back in, the rolly thing stopped working again.  Isn't that weird?  I mean I can still use it I just have to use the blue lines to navigate I can't scroll.
Thanks anyways!  :)

Are you referring to the roller on top, between the mouse buttons?

In any case...

Step 1: Go to store.
Step 2: Buy optical mouse.

Problem solved :)

That's exactly it, I guess it might be called a scroll wheel?  Sounds good anyways! :D   You forgot a couple steps before your 1 and 2, remember I'm a girl! ;D
1.  Get dressed, do hair.
2.  Go outside and fall on the ice.
3.   Then your list! ;D

Hey that reminds me of this funny story, yup here I go again!  I took the kids to the bus stop in Maryland one morning in my short nightgown that says HELP ME BEFORE I BECOME MY MOTHER!  So anyways the neighbors right across the street had construction guys doing things to their house, they showed up as I was at the bus stop.  Well I was too embarrassed to get out of the van and walk across the lawn to go inside so I pretended I was reading something in the van hoping they'd go work around the back yard of the neighbors.  Did they, oh no!  So after about 1/2 hour I drove the van across the front lawn to the steps and climbed out of the passenger's side and ran inside. :P

Took the words right off of my keyboard!  The optical mice work on practically any surface.

What is an optical mouse?  That sounds familiar to me but I don't know why. :-\

Looks like a regular mouse, but has a glowing red light in the bottom instead of a mechanical ball.

About 15 bucks.  You don't have to clean the cat hair out of them!

That sounds pretty neat!  I don't like this ball because it keeps falling out and rolling on the floor.  $15 isn't bad.  My mouse was very clean inside though, no cat hair.
Thanks guys! :D

I bought a wireless optical mouse for $19.00 at Circuit City.  It was only two dollars more than the wired optical mouse.   :)

Now my cat can't continue his domenation of me by sitting on the cable.   :cat:
