The Ridley Report would make a great video podcast.

If it's possible to do I for one would love it.  ;D

Dave Ridley

never thought about it. how is this done?

I don't know the technical stuff.
I just thought that he Ridley Report would make a good video podcast.

I think that this is a great idea, but I also think this could potentially increase the costs associated with the Ridley Report dramatically for DadaOrwell.  FTL_Ian could probably speak to this a bit more but I imagine this is going to require 1) a web server and 2) bandwidth (and lots of it)

There may be free or low-cost services out there already to facilitate this.

The Ridley Report is a video podcast.  In iTunes go to the "Advanced" menu and select "Subscribe to Podcast".  In the dialog box that appears enter

http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/ridleyreport/videos.rss

And click "OK".  Congratulations, you are now subscribed to the Ridley Report video podcast.

I got really excited at first and then I tried it.

iTunes doesn't like it.

Quote from: iTunesThere are no playable episodes for "YouTube :: Videos by ridleyreport".

The URL might point to text-only episodes, or contain file types that iTunes cannot play.

I don't think YouTube is serving up h.264 videos.  In fact, I'm sure of it.  That RSS feed only serves up SWF files (flash) which is not compatible with iTunes/iPod.

Sorry about that.  I stopped subscribing to video podcasts in itunes awhile ago and didn't notice that RidleyReport.com wouldn't work.  I subscribe to RidleyReport.com through google reader (http://www.google.com/reader/) which works just fine with the youtube video format.  Google reader is also how I've been reading this forum and most other news related websites.  I really recommend using it to work with any RSS enabled website.

My reason for wanting a podcast is so I can use my iPod.

Try one of these solutions, I haven't tested any of them though.

This looks like the most promising option for windows users

But here are other options for windows and mac.

They require at least some manual interaction though so it may be easier to just watch the Ridley Report rather than spend that time doing the manual steps then watching the Ridley Report.  But try those out and see if they work for you.
