I like to party and have a good time with friends, with no politics involved. (But I have not yet reached my goal!)

This wouldn't be a proper welcome thread unless:
a) it went offtopic, and
b) there was a pointless philosophical nitpick discussion

For all your wisdom, Russ (and you are a wise dude), you don't grok that "politics" is a different thing from "government"

How about this from the big wiki:

Politics is the process by which groups of people make decisions. Most commonly it is generalized as "who gets what, when, why, and how." Although the term is generally applied to behavior within civil governments, politics is observed in all human group interactions, including corporate, academic, and religious institutions.

Politics consists of "social relations involving authority or power"[1] and refers to the regulation of a political unit, [2] and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy.[3]

Political science (also political studies) is the study of political behavior and examines the acquisition and application of power. Related areas of study include political philosophy, which seeks a rationale for politics and an ethic of public behavior, and public administration, which examines the practices of governance.

none of that sounds fun to me .... so I guess I am still against "politics" since I like voluntary relationships based on friendship and love instead of authority and power. :)

Ummm, Hi and welcome.  Several of us are in the Keene area.  Watch the Keene subforum for occasional news and just to meet folks from the area, (online anyway).
Sorry that you got caught up in one of the older discussions, but believe it or not, this is generally a fairly tame forum, usually respectful and decent.   :)

What's Dave babbling about?

Oh, Hi Welcome.   :ahoy:

Who let Lloyd out of the Old Fuck section?

Has anyone figured out the answer to What is Life the Earth and Everything?

Caleb

Nope, but I'm hoping we can peg down the definition of politics before the night is over. If you guys don't figure this out quick, I'm going to summon Kola to hammer it out for us.
