I'm going to give her a call tomorrow and see what we can work out.  Hopefully, this won't turn into a tragedy of the commons...

Coconut

Wow... big news real late. Good luck on your call, and I'm sure you'll keep us posted.

Kat Kanning

I'm bringing the 4 folding chairs, but if people have these camp chairs, they'd be good to bring also.

Hmm... problem, or opportunity?

I'm with you Ian -- that's a tough call. On the one hand, there would certainly be a ready made audience; otoh, it has a strong potential to make us come off as parasitic (mooching off another event), not to mention disruptive, if arrests are made.

I'm inclined to think this is a case where the potential negativity of the publicity outweighs the publicity itself. Too bad the scheduling conflict wasn't discovered sooner.

Ian, if you still plan on calling the event organizer to work out a deal, may I suggest that you are completely candid with her regarding the planned illegal gambling table as an act of civ dis, along with the possibility of a minor scene arising out of activists being arrested, and the arrests being filmed. That way, there are no surprises -- and if a deal can be arranged with that understanding, the potential for negative publicity is nipped in the bud.

Coconut

Well I just picked up $8 in rolls of pennies to be prepared for a poker game, or other penny bets. If we're still on...

FTL_Ian

I spoke with the organizer and she's fine with coexisting.  I'm considering going out at 8 a.m. and setting up at that time as that's when they'll be setting up too, then we could start our event a couple hours early...

That would be the government's fault, not ours.  We will be peaceful and quiet (no live music or anything), so nothing about our event will be disruptive to theirs.

Puke

Could be a great opportunity to explain how the free-market is better than the gov't to the tree-hugger socialist types.

Coconut

I will also have access to a few more chairs if we need. I hope to come around 10:30 - 11, see if I can cover a picnic table with a poker top. If not, I can come home and get a table. Two non-freestaters have told me they will come and play. Players can buy pennies on the spot, and blinds (for anyone who knows poker) will be .01/.02 No Limit. We can double that later in the day if the situation calls for it, but with each person starting at around 50 cents, 1/2 would be standard.

Should I bring my camera? I'm leaning toward yes, but I'm trying to carry as little as possible on my person. Also, who might be available to hold player's keys and possibly temporarily take care of their cars in a worst case scenario?

Anyone with a truck available early Saturday (8am) to move tables to Railroad Sq.?

Friday

Since the LPNH wasn't invited  :'( , I'll be meandering at this event, sans table, selling raffle tickets.  First prize is your choice of a Beretta Tomcat .32 or a Springfield XD .40!  Second prize is whichever gun the first prize winner didn't select!  Tickets are $5 each, 3 for $10, or 7 for $20.  Note that if you win, you'll need to retrieve your prize yourself from Riley's Gun Shop in Hooksett and comply with whatever legal stuph is applicable.

If looking for me, please note I have cut all my hair off.  [superfluous RHPS reference]Goodbye Magenta, hello Columbia.  :toocool: [/superfluous RHPS reference]  There is no cause for alarm!  Remain calm and proceed to purchase raffle tickets in a calm, orderly fashion.   8)

Oh I'm with you there, totally. My point was just that it might not appear that way to the public.

I'm glad the organizer is cool with it, and look forward to participating! :broc1: 8)

I can be available with my pickup... though you might prefer one with an open bed, if available.

I did ask for other suggestions.  Honestly, I didn't even think of the LP.  Do they have any presence in Cheshire County?

You are welcome to have the remaining 4' of table space!
