I explained it to someone here and it took 'em a minute to git it ;D

That's how you know it's funny. If you have to explain it.  ;)

Well i guess the best thing to do to eliminate diseases is kill everything.
yup.
gee, i feel better now. For a while I was worried that people have lost all respect for life.
But now I understand.  ::)

Clearly, you do not understand. That is my point.

My Grandfather and Father have shot sickly looking stray dogs that were after cattle or chickens. How is it any different? (I ain't talking about the puppy-throwing, here.)

What's funny is how pissed off people are about this video. Yet, how many people die everyday in Iraq?

I didn't have to explain it to the person, there was just a few seconds before it sunk in.  I might have had to explain it to you.  I'm telling Pat that you're cranky.

Some of those are pretty bad, but I can tell none of you have been there by your reactions.
It doesn't justify the stuff, but the situation can not be conveyed through words or short video clips.

Shooting animals is also a common thing because many dogs (And other animals.) carry all sorts of diseases.

...call it good military training.  >:(

I was never trained in such a manner. Shit like animal cruelty happens every day in America. It doesn't really matter if the person is in the military or not.

I know Puke - but I'm not just talking about the animals. Vitruvian posted a page of videos that showed disgusting behavior not just limited to cruelty to animals.
I have seen dozens of other videos not posted on that page that are completely appalling as well - like soldiers boasting and joking with their friends back home about a girl hanging herself after she was gang raped by a group of them - saying "she was fucked anyway because she would have been stoned to death for for it later".

And maybe you weren't trained in such a manner but I would think you could admit that there is a level of training to see these people being affected by our presence there as sub-human. I mean c'mon, our whole society  is being trained to take on that view... with soldiers it seems a lot worse.

How long were you over there and where were you stationed?

Dogs in cats in Iraq are half feral pests anyways.  I do know that some of them have been dining down on people.

I personally think the dog was already dead.  This is nothing more than a joke.  The dog doesn't move, even when thrown.  The yipping doesn't sound right.  Like everyone says, the noise should diminish quickly.  I think the dog was roadkill.  Were they on a road?

Sometime I have to wonder how anyone can come to the conclusion that the military creates a bunch of sadistic proto-serial killers then I remember the source.  A bunch of people whose view of the military is simplistic and childish.

Oh someone posted a video of people being mean.... Well damn.  I guess that is exclusive to the military huh?

Some of you people need a reality check and need to grow up.

Given.

Whether it was dead or not really isn't the issue. The main problem is the lack of human dignity he showed. It was poor taste and a good example of the blatant disregard american troops show to the lives, property, customs, etc of the "conquered".

Men who of their own free will join an organization whose sole purpose is to steal or damage property and murder or exploit people? A volunteer military is a self-selecting group. Because of that, you can see a disproportionate amount of sadists. The problem is not that the military turns good people into bad people, but that its very existence attracts the bad ones, for it gives them the opportunity to hurt others with impunity.

Nobody said it was. The difference is the kid down the street burning ants with his magnifying glass is doing so for himself. The one in the uniform maiming animals is doing so in your name.

Since when does eating humans make dogs sick? and even if so, are they that sick that they need to be killed?

According to that peculiar logic, I guess I should shoot every animal I see that is eating roadkill.

Apparently some are taking out their anger at the marine on his parents.  Personally I think that's just as bad.  They weren't the ones doing it.

IMO,these are the consequences of one person doing wrong. He or she can do anything they want to do but be willing to accept the action-reaction theory.

My point is that it isn't the training, but the situation that causes soldiers to do stupid shit. If you put a person in the same situation as those soldiers without any military training it is inevitable that a few would act the same way.

It's interesting (I also have this problem with the police.) that we all have these prejudices about the military, cops, gov't, etc. How would it be different if we watched that video and proclaimed "All goddamn crackers are insane! Fuck the white man!"

Just b/c the men are soldiers does not mean that all soldiers are bad. It's the institution and the situation of war that corrupts men.

Have you ever lived on a farm? How about lived in a desert on the other side of the planet?
Perhaps your perspective is not sufficient to understand the logic.

Puke

Last thing, it's stupid to film such a thing and not except people to get mad at it.
I made sure that my face was hidden when throwing puppies out of the helicopter.

This isn't a case of the person doing something stupid accepting the action reaction... it's a case of their family receiving it.

For instance, let's pretend you and I were brothers.  I go out and rape a young girl.  Her brother is so mad and upset over what I did he reacts by coming to our house and beating you up for it since he can't find me.  Do you think those are proper consequences?

Someone else should not be expected to live with consequences of your actions!
