Some aspects of "allopathic" medicine are anything but "evidence based". For instance, I think that the reliance that "allopathic" medicine places on anti-depressants is a true sham.

It is.  Doctors have tried to put almost everyone I know on some form of anti-depressants, (not my fault because they know me ;D).  Rick went on them, (now that one may have been my fault), and he was like a robot so I threw them all away and talked him into getting a hobby.  So he started kayaking and was fine! :)

I just went to a pretty cool doctor last week.  He was very open-minded and he didn't give me the feeling that I was being judged and I told him about a maybe life threatening thing I have going on and that I would refuse conventional treatment if I found out it was what I think it might be.  He suggested juicing and fasting, I was so surprised. :)   It's rare but there are some doctors that really care and don't have an agenda.  Otherwise I think for the majority it's a racket too.

I went to the ER a couple of weeks ago, I slipped and fell on the ice.  I hit my head and back real hard and I really thought I had a fractured spine so anyways I'm okay but I just got the bill yesterday, $2000.00.  They did a Cat-Scan, (sp?), and it was $1,142.00, just for a 5 minute test. ::)

It may be a 5 minute test, but it's a million-dollar piece of equipment. A buddy of mine got hosed for over 4 grand for a scan last year after a bad fall. Of course, if a hospital has a CAT scanner, they want to use it twice on everyone who walks through the door to maximize the billable time on the machine. It's the replacement for what used to be a $50 X-Ray job.

Yaye!  :D I'm glad you were recommended fasting, I remember we had talked about that a while back. I have a feeling that will be very positive for you. Good luck!

I really don't mean to cause offense, but could you define "doctor" in this case?

Sure, no problem, he is a general practice doctor. :)

Thats good to hear Rainey. You know I am a big fan of Gerson Therapy which is based on juicing (13 glasses a day). There are a few MD's who are finally coming around and realizing there are other methods besides drugs and surgery. The problem is that they risk becoming whipping boys as they go against the "medical model" way of doing business. Many get their license yanked for doing so.

Thanks Kola! :)  I know what you mean I used to go to this doctor that worked for a hospital in Delmarva and she would spend a lot of time with each patient, well she was told her "patient turn around" wasn't fast enough and fired.  This doctor didn't spend all that much time with me so maybe he tows the middle road to keep his butt covered, I don't know.
I like Stanley Burroughs Lemonade Fast, did you ever hear of it?  I just get so dizzy and ache so bad when I go on a fast otherwise I don't mind not eating.  It's hard too when everyone around you is eating that's why I'd love to go somewhere by myself and fast for a couple of weeks.

I think you need to comsume a wide variety of differerent juices when fasting and not just one type.
IMO, you should use organic produce only and use a juice machine. If you juice non organic stuff you are exposing yourself to all the pesticides.

Most often when folks do juicing programs they experience some problems like dizzyness, headaches, nausea, cramps, skin outbreaks etc. IMO thats is a good thing, as the body begins to eliminate all the gunk. This is where enemas help out as they speed up the elimination process. Not everyone likes to do them though. If a program is done correctly, they do not lower or deplete electrolyte levels. Juicing is a great way to nourish the body and it takes very little digestion for assimilation. You will lose weight and have energy and your body will thank you. The Gerson Therapy (or a modified version) is the perfect program IMO. It is strict but safe and get results.
