A mere waive of the pen and invocation of potential emergencies nullifies yet another right via signing statement.   Who invented these and why were they found Constitutional????

They haven't been tested in the courts. Maybe the Institute For Justice will bring a case.

The courts do help once in a while... e.g., the US would have gone 100% socialist in the 1930s, but the Supreme Court struck down FDRs price-control laws.

The article is from 2007-01-04 about something Bush did on 2006-12-20. That they decided they can read people's mail without a warrant over a year ago, means that they're probably reading, cataloging, indexing, and data-mining every piece of mail by now.

Yup.  One step forward, two steps back.

Keep doing the same things, keep reaping the same results.

There is absolutely no long-term salvation whatsoever in any branch of the Authoritarian Model of Government.  The entire AMOG itself is the problem, not the solution.  It is the very source of the 'one step forward, two steps backwards' motion that keeps pulling us endlessly down the slope of tyranny, in the very direction they want us to keep going -- all the while keeping our eyes glazed over by the occasional nibble we get of their carrot.

For gosh sake, take your eyes off the carrot for once and look around you.  The answer is not to keep chasing the carrot; the answer is to withdraw your mitigating influence.  Take away the 'one step forward' part that you provide, and use the resulting stepped up, universally uncomfortable growth of tyranny as a compelling backdrop while directing a powerful, well-articulated message to the sleeping masses: The source of our problems is the beloved AMOG itself!

This is the solution, folks.  It has never been accomplished precisely because most of those interested in freedom have yet to take their eyes off the carrot and implement the real solution!
