[It doesn't take a racial trend for there to be danger. It only takes one committed individual to assassinate someone.

And as we all know, the Muslim religion has more extremist assassins in it, than, say, the US government?  Is that what you're saying?

Gosh, I hope I'm not putting myself in danger by questioning you about this.  I've heard that some anarchists are bomb-throwing extremists.

You seem to have a knack for misinterpreting others' remarks.

Hence the question mark at the end.  Clarifications welcome.

Quote from: macklerI was fine when I got up.  But I'll be the first to admit, glaring bigotry makes me ill.

How was my statement ("I think Adams is referring to the violent reaction of some Muslims to depictions of Mohammed.") in any way bigoted?  It is a verifiable fact that, on a number of occasions, some Muslims(n.b. my qualificatory use of the word some) have reacted violently to the publication of Mohammed's visage.

Okay, I just figured out that Dalebert is not Scott Adams.  I got confused by the first post of this thread, since it's signed "Scott."  I didn't mean to call anyone a bigot (except Scott Adams).  This forum is not the place I expect to find Fox-news-induced islamophobia, so it really gets my attention when I see it.  Please forgive me.

One little [quote] tag would've prevented all that? ;D

You're not the first person on this forum to mistake me for Scott Adams. I do tend to repost a lot of his blog entries.

I made a mistake earlier. The Dutch Danish artist was not actually assassinated. There were threats, but apparently not as substantial as they were trumped up to be by the media. For what it's worth, researching this in response to your comments has me re-thinking all this paranoia. Someone suggested recently that I do a cartoon showing a bunch of prophets and deities from different religions with a glaring empty spot where Mohammed should be and maybe a name tag on the seat or something to indicate. Then have an Easter egg that shows him when you click it. Honestly, I was extremely reluctant to do the cartoon strictly on the basis of fear.

What does that say about me? Perhaps I should be big enough to see through all the media hype. Others like Cartoon Network during the South Park series, Cartoon Wars, have bowed to these apparently empty threats by a few angry individuals that are not very representative of Muslims. It is starting to seem rather silly to me.

I think I will go ahead with the cartoon as a statement about censorship and racism. Matt and Trey from South Park described their attempt to show an image of Mohammed as a reverse-Spartacus moment. They were stepping up and saying "I am Spartacus" expecting others to join in their cry. Instead, everyone else took a step back. =/ Well, I'm going to step up with them and say "I am Spartacus" and show that the sky will not fall. I bet if I did a little searching around, I would discover other small-time media outlets have already done the same. It seems to just be the big media outlets over-reacting and engaging in censorship over all this media hype about violent Muslims. After all, that Danish artist who received the death threats is still alive.

I really should be careful about that. My tag is "Dalebert" which is purposefully similar to "Dilbert" because I'm a fan, which probably has something to do with the fact that I've now taken up cartooning. And since I'm a cartoonist myself, it's easy for someone to mistake me quoting Scott Adams while he talks about his drawings as me talking about my drawings. Doh! I guess I just figured he's so famous that everyone will know it's not me. I was mistaken.  :o

Thank you for taking time out from feeding the poor to complain about comic strips. I know Jesus would have played it the same way.

I didn't know who Scott Adams was, (sounds like the name of a beer), and I don't understand tags so I just laugh at what's funny and leave all the stuff I don't understand somewhere in this place called, HuH? and it makes my life so much more fun and easier.

Unless it's like a real serious thing or  I feel like understanding things that I don't  day.  I'm weird, I know! :P

It appears the government is a much bigger threat than Muslims. Big surprise, huh?
