My teachings (NA traditions) are that the stinging nettle plant is for asthma and respiratory problems. We would never pluck off any part of the plant without saying prayers, talking and/or singing to them. Plants are living things. You do not just start tearing their limbs off and start eating them.

These plants are giving a part of their life(or their entire life) for us. They should be treated with honor respect and love.

I could go on and on but basically NA traditions regarding herb medcine are very strict, very sacred and there are certain rituals to follow before you even pick a plant. One very basic rule is to never ever insult a plant by saying it tastes bad or smells bad.

whats with the guys hairdo?  is that the new-age-ninja thing goin on there?  ::)

I never heard of him. I will have to do a little reading up on this guy.

Does he sleep in the back of a truckbed and showers up at the YMCA too?

That reminds me:

David Wolfe is considered to be the rawfood guru, hence the strange hairdo.  If you ate some of the things he did, your hair would look like that too.  LOL!

Yeah, his hair is pretty wild.  He described eating a fresh watermelon with his hands and said it was so much better than slicing it and stuff.  I think he's alright but his raw books aren't my favorites, I like Alissa Cohen.  You've probably heard of her right Scott?  She looks great too!
How are you doing with your raw food diet?  I don't even know where to begin anymore, I guess carrot juice and wheat grass.  As I said before I'm a lousy cook and a worse uncooker,

I don't like that many fruits or raw veggies so I don't know what to do.  :-\
I like peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes,  cantaloupe, cherries, watermelon, dates, and sprouts.  I like making Brazil nut wafers in the dehydrator, I forget the recipe but if you want it I'll find it. :)

Alissa Cohen banned me from her forum  ::)  ;D

Your kidding me, why did she do that?    My attention span isn't that great I doubt I could handle belonging to any more forums than this one, FSP and Teaparty. :-\

Hell yeah... take that, Kat! >:D

I expect there will be no more insulting comments made about such sacred entities as stinging nettles, poison ivy, and habanero peppers!

;D 8)

hey man, plants have feelings too!   8)

I am a member of the newly founded ACLU for plants.

I hate plant racists!   ;D

 ;D ;D ;D

I was of course joking... but believe it or not, I do have plenty of positive sentiments toward stinging nettle and habanero peppers.  They are an important part of any insane person's diet :NinjaIconA:

Poison ivy I tolerate.  Contrary to popular belief, it does not top the list of my favorite foods :D

Kat Kanning

Yeah, but it makes a good story...Menno the poison ivy eater.

For every plant that has a "side effect" or bad effect, the cure is always nearby.

This is true.

ie  If infected with poison ivy, jewel weed is always close by.

Doing great on the rawfood diet.  I've slipped a couple of times (mostly on the road working) but Ive done real well at home.  Can't wait for Spring...BIG garden going in, fruit trees, berry bushes.  Oh yeah...raw for the summer!!! :D

Alright for you Scott! ;D  It is easier eating raw in the summer, I'm going to try to plant a garden in the front yard.  I just hope the dogs don't piss in it. :-\  I tried to eat an apple this week and couldn't finish it because they make me gag, I hate most fruits. ::)

We have a big back yard but it's all wood chips no grass so I can't do it there.  I wish I had enough money to buy a greenhouse that's what I really want. :-\
