That was fun.  :)

I've been in many pew-jumping holy-rollin' services. I did pick right up on a point of theological contention in their lyrics, though: "There is only one God, and Jesus is His name."

That tells me they're "Oneness" Pentecostals, not "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost". What's the difference? I suppose it matters to some people whether the Godhead is one triune God existing eternally in three distinct persons, or one God who has existed at different times as three different persons, or one God who has existed as two different persons, with the Holy Spirit as a slightly lesser messenger of sorts.

Meh.

The further along the tree the branch splits, the sharper the divide.

Good story telling, gives me a chill...

This is pretty cool.  A bunch of 7 to 12 year olds playing a Led Zeppelin medley on xylophones!

Be sure to listen to this with some quality earphones or speakers -- speakers appropriate to the era.

"This is a vinyl rip of the first pressing of Led Zeppelin II which ran about 200,000 copies, these are sometimes also called the Robert Ludwig mixes. The reason of what makes these mixes special is that the original copies of LZII were EQ'd in a way that, at the time, would skip on a lot of turntables. They then had to remove some of the bass and re-press the album.

I must have missed this post. I didn't know about the different mix issue.

More bass means more John Paul Jones, extra secret sauce please.

I read that a Marine armor unit would play Whole Lotta Love over the speakers on the outside of their vehicles when they went into battle. Poor dang Vietnamese didn't know what the heck was coming.

It's not just EQ, it's a completely different mix. And awesome.

I'm putting on my studio earphones just to listen to it again. :)

Hoooooly crap.

Ann and Nancy doing their thing. John Bonham's son Jason on drums. Yo Yo Ma rocking out in the audience (along with everyone else).

Robert Plant with tears streaming down his face, and Jimmy Page (I'm lip-reading) yelling "Holy FUCK!" as the choir kicks in.

Ignore the politicians, this is pure awesome.

Becky's cousin worked that show. He got to shake Jimmy Page's hand.

John

Very calm here in Grafton Center.
Sat out front a few time today, and practiced this song.
:) <3 Peace

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm,
I know; it's been comin' for some time.
When it's over, so they say, it'll rain a sunny day,
I know; shinin' down like water.

[Chorus]
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

Yesterday, and days before, sun is cold and rain is hard,
I know; been that way for all my time.
'Til forever, on it goes through the circle, fast and slow,
I know; it can't stop, I wonder.

[Chorus]

Yeah!

[Chorus]

We used to have a forum that covered the Texarkana and regional music scenes. One guy had a music store in West Helena, Arkansas, and was just minding his own business when this scruffy old dude wandered in, looked around, and sat down and started playing guitar.

It was just Robert Plant out and about touring the American South by himself, hanging out in a local guitar shop for about four hours.
