yea out west the rim of the canyons are higher than the mountains in the east
the north rim of the grand canyon is 7000' and bryce is 8000-9000'

Wow what a great bunch of pictures. I had to save that link and will view then whenever I get down and out or need some good energy. Simply breathtaking! I can only imagine the emotions felt if you would be there in person. I have been to the Grand Canyon twice and that is always mindblowing as well.
