What Do You Want to See at Porcfest???

Previous topic - Next topic

SamIam

I'm coming up for Porcfest and found the schedule a bit lacking on the activism side of the movement. I'm stepping in to fill that gap, and I would like your input on what you would find useful or interesting. I have some ideas, and I'm really looking for some collaboration to come up with 2-3 topics, panels or trainings. I'll take it from there to create the idea. Once decided, I'll get them in the schedule, and hold them either in the altexpo or near the fun tent. Here are some of my ideas:

Video/Audio Editing Basics - Want to know how to do transitions, color correction, background noise cleanup, or figure out how key frames work? I can cover all of this, and do a start to finish video edit on my laptop, projected on the screen. I use Adobe Premier Pro to build my videos, but I also have experience with Ulead Video Studio, Sony Vegas, Pinnacle, and a few others. I'll focus on some of the fundamentals that apply to most of the programs out there.

Law of Attraction - The whole thing, start to finish, has already happened, this class was great and awful, all right now tin this instant. :) Heard about the Law of Attraction described in movies like The Secret? The exact shape this class takes is up to you and your feedback. There are lots of areas I would be happy to cover from using the LOA in setting goals, taking responsibility, maintain focus and purpose in stressful situations, to creating through intention. Lot's of options here, let me know your thoughts.

Face Reading/Body Language - I'll bring out 2 copies of Amazing Face Reading, and you can get your copy at amazon.freetalklive.com. I can cover the fundamentals of reading someone's facial features, and we can do a few live readings. It's very interesting stuff!

Activism Round table Discussion - What's next for the FSP movers who want to create freedom and liberty through peaceful non-cooperation? What kind of voluntary alternatives can we create to replace the products and services overtaken by government? What are the best methods to advance the ideas of freedom and liberty to the masses?

Marc Steven's Strategy and details of my cases - I can go through the details of my 3 cases right now, share what I have learned, play some recordings of the events, talk through the strategy. It can also be a general discussion on the idea of questioning the government's authority while standing up for your rights.

Flying without ID - This can be a discussion on my experience flying without ID, including how I managed the latest ramp up of the police state, whereby failure to show government papers at the checkpoint now requires calling police on my flight up to Porcfest!

Ok, that's probably enough! I'm doing this based on your interests and suggestions. Please post a reply if your interested in participating in a particular class, if you have suggestions, or if you would like something completely different addressed. After a few days I'll narrow it down, work out the logistics, and get it in the schedule.

I will be presenting on Mediation/Non-Coercive Conflict Resolution at the AltExpo.

If enough people are interested, I may do an informal presentation on Security for activists, and perhaps another on planning for activists.  I have to leave the Friday of PorcFest, so they will be early in the week, rather than during the peak attendance time.

I understand there is to be a presentation on the formation of a Porcupine analog of the Boy and Girl Scouts, but I don't know if a time or place has been established for that yet.

If there is any interest, I would be willing to discuss the program for "at risk" NH boys I work for during the Summer (the reason I'm leaving PorcFest early).  It's a pretty "Libertarian" program by philosophy and methods, even though the folks at the program don't quite realize it.  I'd like to recruit some Porcupines to work there as Summer Staff in future years (too late to get on staff this year), as I think it's a chance to do some good pro-freedom work that will bear fruit in the years to come.

I see Kat, I see Lloyd, I see Jim......

Oh sorry flashback.

Isn't it I see London, I see France?

I'd like to see something on using Silver/Gold as currency...

I also got roped into giving a 'Amateur Radio and how it can Help the FSP.' talk/presentation thingy.

For the PorcFest I attend: Titties. No implants. I want to see mounds of naturalistic titty handfuls. :icon_pirat: ;D

LoA - can't get enough of it

Fluff and Stuff

I'd love to see some LofA stuff.  I should get the Secret from blockbuster.com before I attend Porcfest and I want to learn more about this.  I highly respect Ian and Sam but LofA seems like BS from what I have heard but I'd love to learn more about it just because of all of the respect I hold for you guys.

I think Dave is doing a class on video/audio stuff (and he is charging).

I'm with you about LoA, Stuff. I'll probably attend it too though because all my information has been 2nd hand and mostly from critics.

Thanks for doing that - enough complaining about the management. Let's just step up and "be the management". The AltExpo is that kind of thing... Be the management or be square.

Video/Audio Editing Basics - ...

I think this would take enough time to be an all day. One of the AltExpo ideas is to have one hour teaser sessions for things that would be much bigger workshops held at a later date in AltExpo Workshops. We have scouted out several venues for these and have people in the loop with facilities now eager to have us in for day-long workshops. So for an AltExpo session at PorcFest, I'd suggest a teaser that shows good vid versus bad vid and how you can teach them (at the day-long session) how to produce the good stuff.

We have a couple of AltExp venues at PF that can show videos. I suggest we show the Secret in its entirety one evening. You should do the one hour session before it maybe to lead into it and, of course, add your spin.

This sounds interesting. There will be a guy presenting on other "external diagnostic" techniques on Friday probably. His are alt.medical diagnostics, though.

Good one. I was planning to give my talk on that in one of the one-hour sessions as an intro...

Sam, I'm really glad you are jumping in to "be the management." I'm just trying to be a resource for making it happen. The site needs work, yada, yada, but volunteers sought for that, as well as everything else.

Log onto site for announcements, etc. http://altexpo.org. When I see you log on Sam, I'll set your privileges to "presenter" and you'll see the inside scoop.

No scheduling set yet, but email your time constraints to talk@AltExpo.org and the scheduler will make it work. Oh yeah, need a volunteer to be scheduler... write to info@AltExpo.org to volunteer.

Ditto above on scheduling. I think Eli needs a little encouragement from an adult to really feel confident. So, if there's an adult leader that can help her organize without being overbearing, that might help her. I'll have her email set to Eli@AltExpo.org by tonight.

Yeah we do need to be thinking ahead. Freedom Forum had a meeting with the title: Libertarianism, the Next Generation about 14 years ago. We featured the 2 founders of the LPNH with their ideas on the long view.

Chris L ( the tall one  ;D ) was handling that last year and I need to see if he'll do it again.

Hey, don't make it sound like I got you drunk and made you sign something!! >:D
If you believe it, speak it! I used to be a ham and I think it's an awesome topic. I mean how are we going to communicate if they pull the plug on the 'net, eh? Maybe you can address that.
